Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies Preview

The Memphis Grizzlies had entered the series as underdogs against the favorites from the Western Conference, Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC lived up to all the expectations, even outplaying Memphis in Game 1 and 2 of the series. Though Memphis showed a tough fight in Game 3, OKC nevertheless were able to claw back and maintain their lead to tie the series 3-0 in their favor.

Concerns rose for Grizzlies after their star player Ja Morant took a nasty fall during a fastbreak in Game 3. Morant had a collision with Lu Dort while attacking the rim. Dort lost balance trying to block Morant's shot, resulting in the Grizzlies guard exiting the arena with a hip injury. The Grizzlies have now confirmed that Morant will be out for Game 4 of the series, thus raising concerns about Memphis ever making a comeback in this series.

Till date, no team except the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers has been able to come back from a 3-0 hole in a playoff series. Of course, this makes all odds against Memphis look just further steeper. For the Grizzlies, stars Ja Morant and Scottie Pippen Jr. showed flashes of brilliance but failed due to lack of output from the other Grizzlies players. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane could combine for only 32 points in Game 3 and had 8 turnovers. In a way, it highlighted how Memphis fell apart after one of their main leaders, Ja Morant, left the floor.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been more explosive than ever, scoring 31 points in the last game. This has been his best scoring game yet this postseason. On the other hand, Jalen Williams added 26 while Chet Holmgren poured 24 points for an OKC win. Alex Caruso has been key in Thunder's defensive efforts, making game changing stops to flip the momentum in their favor.

Game 4 could be one last chance for the Grizzlies to stay in the series or one game-done for OKC to roar past into the Western Conference Semi-Finals.
