WATCH: Donovan Ferreira Lights Up MLC 2025 With Brutal Power-Hitting

Texas Super Kings (TSK) and Washington Freedom locked horns for the 23rd match of Major League Cricket (MLC 2025) at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida. The match against Freedom was shortened to five overs per side due to rain. Despite the shortened game, the Super Kings batter Donovan Ferreira shocked everyone with a powerful display of hitting during the final over of the team’s innings. Ferreira made sure fans got their money’s worth.

In the final over, bowled by Mitchell Owen, Ferreira went all out. He smashed four sixes and added two twos. His explosive over read: 6, 6, 6, 2, 2, 6, and he collected a total of 28 runs in one over. Thanks to Ferreira’s late onslaught, Texas Super Kings posted a strong total of 87/2 in their five overs. It became the second-highest total in a five-over format match.

Earlier, TSK, who were without their regular captain Faf du Plessis due to a minor injury, lost the toss and were put into bat on a rain-affected day. Marcus Stoinis took over as the captain for the game in the absence of Du Plessis. Stoinis promoted himself to open the batting but could not contribute much with the bat and was dismissed early by Washington’s left-arm seamer Saurabh Netravalkar.

Daryl Mitchell tried to steady the innings from the other end, but was declared retired out just when he was starting to find rhythm. With only two overs remaining, Shubham Ranjane and Donovan Ferreira took charge. The pair added a quick 53 runs off just 12 balls. Washington Freedom Fall Well Short

Washington Freedom started the chase well. Rachin Ravindra hit a four and a six early to give hope to the chasing side. But things quickly changed in the second over. South African left-arm pacer Nandre Burger turned the match with two big wickets. He dismissed Ravindra and the dangerous Glenn Maxwell on consecutive deliveries.

From there, Texas Super Kings bowlers took full control. Akeal Hosein bowled a brilliant over. He gave away only one run and took a wicket. The pressure was too much for Washington Freedom. They lost wickets and struggled to score runs. Washington could only manage 44/4 in their five overs and fell short by 43 runs, a big margin in such a short game.
