One of Sunday night's thrilling fixtures saw Manchester United host Aston Villa at Old Trafford. The match ended in 2-0 score with goals from Eriksen and Amad Diallo. Read on to see the Manchester United vs Aston Villa Player Ratings.

The match started well for both teams as they contended for the tempo of the game. However, in the 3rd minute, a quick attack from the left flank saw United get two half-chances to get the lead in the game, but both of the attempts were denied by Dibu. After the quick chances, the game took a slower turn with both teams playing the ball, trying to keep possession.

However, there were a few attempts from the hosts who failed to see the end products of quick breakthroughs. We saw an early substitution from Amorim as he was forced to take off Mazraoui due to an injury. Diogo Dalot was introduced in the match at the 20th minute.
At the 27th minute mark, Aston Villa survived a wave of Man United attempts, with multiple shots being saved by Dibu, and after an attempt that hit the post. It all started with a clever use of feet by Harry Maguire, who saved the ball and glided past two players to create a stunning chance.

By the 37th minute, it seemed as if both teams were ready to give their best in the 2nd half as both Man United and Aston Villa felt comfortable keeping the ball to themselves and passing around to keep possession rather than going forward with it.

After the normal 45 minutes, 2 additional minutes were added. Emi Martinez picked up a red card in the 46th minute to protect his team from conceding as an opportunity opened up from a poor back pass from Matty Cash. After the 1st half, the score stood 0-0.

The second half began and almost gave the lead to United, but Hojlund's header was called offside. In the 50th minute, Bruno Fernandes almost made it 1-0 from a long-range effort, but his shot went wide.

The 57th minute rewarded Hojlund the chance to make it right for his team, but the Villa defenders recovered well, and his shot was saved comfortably. In the 74th minute, Villa finally found the net after a mishandling of the ball by Altay, but the goal was disallowed. Amad finally made it in the 75th minute from the far post with a header from a stunning cross from the middle of the pitch.

United were awarded a penalty in the 86th minute. Eriksen stepped up after Bruno gave the attempt to him and he converted the spot kick. It was 2-0. After the normal 90 minutes, 8 additional minutes were added. But the score stood the same. Here are the Manchester United vs Aston Villa Player Ratings.

GK- Altay Bayindir- 5.5/10

Unlike the opposition goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir had barely anything to do in the first half. Safe to say, Man United's defense today had a better performance than their recent fixtures.

CB- Victor Lindelof- 5.5/10

Unlike Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof was given the green light to be higher on the pitch. In addition to his short passing, he was great with the trackbacks and winning the 2nd and 3rd balls, especially in the first half.

CB- Harry Maguire- 6/10

Harry Maguire is slowly becoming a dependable man in the back for Ruben Amorim. He was exceptionally well with the ball in his feet today, something that is rarely seen from an English defender.

CB- Ayden Heaven- 5.5/10

Ayden Heaven, the newcomer, seems to be getting all the right lessons as he has been a solid presence in the 3-man defender for his team today along with Maguire and Lindelof.

RM- Amad Diallo- 6.5/10

Diallo has been the best forward player on the Man United team this season, and we got to see a glimpse of that in their game today against the Villans. The winger looked threatening every time he had the ball in the wide position and stretching the defense line wide. Picked up an unnecessary yellow card. Amad scored the first goal for his team.

CM- Noussair Mazraoui- 6/10

As expected, Mazraoui was given a lot of defensive duties. And looking at the first half, he seemed to have done well in the back as well as going forward to be that extra man that created more spaces in between the opposition players. He was subbed off in the 20th minute due to an injury.

CM- Bruno Fernandes- 6/10

For a player of his class, it was an underwhelming game for Bruno. He was silent for the majority of the first half. Even though his ability to quick pass in between the lines to build up for his team helped United a lot today, his playmaking was just not there. Bagged the assist for the first goal.

CM- Casemiro- 5/10

Casemiro had an average game today as well. Even now, it seems like the Brazilian is a long way from getting back to his amazing form. Even though he played his role to protect the 3-man defense well, in terms of the other aspects of the game, it was disappointing.

CM- Patrick Dorgu- 6/10

Patrick Dorgu is slowly making his way to solidify his position in the starting 11. Even though the Danish midfielder had his ups and downs, his tenacity during matches is a strong asset for his team. He was sharp with his passes and tackles today.

LM- Mason Mount- 6/10

It was a rare sight today of Mason Mount being comfortable in the game. He seemed to be that Chelsea player who could change the course of the game in a matter of seconds. Amorim played Mason in his favored position, and it seemed to work well for the Portuguese boss.

ST- Rasmus Hojlund- 5/10

Rasmus Hojlund did not see much of the ball in the promising positions, especially in the first half. His off-the-ball runs were particularly great in today's game as it helped him to be in promising positions, waiting to be picked by a teammate.

Sub- Diogo Dalot- 4/10

Diogo came on to the match in the 20th minute after Mazraoui picked up an injury and needed further treatment in the tunnel.

Sub- Jonny Evans- 4/10

Jonny Evans came onto the game in the 65th minute. Ayden Heaven was taken off as he was seen struggling.

Sub- Chido Obi- 4/10

Chido Obi came onto the match in the 80th minute to take Hojlund's spot.

Manager- Ruben Amorim- 5/10

Amorim had a better game in the second half. He was absolutely furious with his team's performance in the first half.

GK- Dibu Martinez- 6/10

Perhaps the savior of Aston Villa today? The Argentine saved multiple attempts from the Man United players in the early minutes. He looked sharp throughout the game and pretty much led the defense line from the goal post today. Picked up the red card in the end minutes of the first half to save his team.

LB- Ian Maatsen- 6/10

Ian Maatsen was the busiest defender in the game today. He had a great first half, both in terms of his attacking duties and going back to defend the Manchester United's attacks.

CB- Pau Torres- 5.5/10

Unlike the recent fixtures where he held a high line with Konsa, Pau Torres was given the majority of the defensive duties today. The Spaniard had a great authority in the backline, especially in the first half.

CB- Ezri Konsa- 6/10

Similar to Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa had a great defensive performance in the first half. From blocking the shots to denying the important passes, he led the defensive line for Unai Emery in an admirable way.

RB- Matty Cash- 5/10

Matty Cash had a pretty quiet first half, especially since Man United's wingers looked dangerous today while coming forward. Mason Mount seemed to give the right-back a tough challenge today. He eventually made the mistake that led to Martinez going off after a red card booking.

CM- Boubacar Camara- 6/10

Boubacar Camara's run with the ball from deep midfield to the other half caused the Man United midfielders and defenders a lot of trouble. His ability to switch the play to the flanks while going forward was crucial today.

CM- Amadou Onana- 5/10

Amadou Onana struggled to battle it out against the United overhaul in the midfield. He had a poor game in the first half, which led to an early substitution in the 2nd half.

CAM- Marco Asensio- 5.5/10

Due to an underwhelming midfield performance by Aston Villa, Marco Asensio did not get to do much in the first half. Moreover, he was taken off as Dibu received a red card, and the team needed a goalkeeper. Talk about luck!

LM- John McGinn- 5/10

It was just another day for John McGinn in terms of protecting the ball with his trademark way of playing. He maintained an 83% accurate passing rate and 0.06 xG throughout the first half.

RM- Morgan Rogers- 5.5/10

Morgan Rogers won all his aerial duels today and won 2 out of his 4 ground duels. The midfielder seemed visibly upset as Manchester United pretty much pinned down Villa with the overhaul in midfield. He picked up a yellow card in the 80th minute.

ST- Ollie Watkins- 5/10

Ollie Watkins' evening today was all about missed passes, especially in the first half. The forward failed to see much of the ball in the first place, and there was particularly no delivery in the box.

Sub- Robin Olsen- 4/10

Robin Olsen came onto the match in the end minutes of the first half. Marco Asensio was taken out as Villa needed a goalkeeper after Martinez picked up a red card.

Sub- Youri Tielemans- 4/10

Youri Tielemans came onto the game in the 61st minute. John McGinn was taken off for the introduction of the fresh legs.

Sub- Jacob Ramsey- 4/10

Jacob Ramsey came along with Youri Tielemans in the 61st minute. He took Onana's place.

Sub- Ross Barkley- 4/10

Ross Barkley came onto the match in the 84th minute. Emery wanted to change the course of the game right away with his double subs.

Sub- Donyell Malen- 4/10

Donyell Malen came along Ross Barkley in the 84th minute to change the fortunes of the game.

Manager- Unai Emery- 4/10

Unai Emery was the unhappy manager between the two. He made all the right calls, but his 10-man team came off short.

Sportsdunia Man of the Match is Amad Diallo.
