The Indian Premier League (IPL) is nothing less than a festival in India. There have been 18 seasons so far in the tournament, and all of them have been thrilling and dramatic in their own ways. Interestingly, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the most dominant teams, winning five trophies each. Apart from them, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have also won the title thrice. While in most of the seasons we have seen repeated winners, this season we saw a new winner after a long time.

IPL 2025 Breaks Records with Whopping Profit Figures

Finally, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) broke their trophy curse and won the IPL 2025 final on June 3. Something different happened under captain Rajat Patidar, and that was completely iconic. The RCB fanbase waited for 17 years to witness the trophy, get on the streets, and celebrate their team's win. Even Virat Kohli had to wait for 17 years to hold that trophy in his hands. With RCB winning the trophy, JioStar achieved a new feat in terms of net profit this season in 2025.
Total IPL 2025 Revenue
In November 2024, the joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Walt Disney came into existence. This was a surprising merger combined with the businesses of Viacom18 and Star India, where Reliance holds the majority stake through Viacom18. It all started back in February 2024 when both companies announced the signing of the binding definitive agreements to form the joint venture.
After months of approvals, the deal finally came into action in November. Since then, Hotstar became JioStar. While the subscription pattern and everything remain the same, only the logo has been changed a little. This Indian Premier League season, the joint venture has made a net profit of Rs 581 crore for the quarter ended June 2025. The reason behind this is the thrilling matches, which lifted the total IPL 2025 revenue to a next level.
RIL revealed that in its Q1FY26 earnings report, JioStar achieved an EBITDA of Rs 1,017 crore and operating revenue of Rs 9,601 crore. Even though there has been extreme pressure due to limited FMCG advertisements, JioStar still managed to get a record-breaking profit margin this season. This was their highest-ever earnings across both TV and digital platforms, which is quite a solid achievement. JioStar held the broadcasting rights for TV and digital media for the IPL 2025. As per their reports, they were able to reach a combined audience of 1.19 billion across platforms.
Record Revenue on Digital Platform
Moreover, the final match was the driving force behind this IPL 2025 profit. There were a total of 237 million viewers and a peak concurrency of 55.2 million, which is why the match became the most-watched match in T20s.
JioStar even profited in their digital reach, which went to 652 million during the IPL season. This was a 28% year-on-year jump. Moreover, the TV broadcast got a 5.1 TVR and logged over 514 billion minutes of viewing time. Overall, it was a good season for JioStar and the RCB in their respective fields. After the merger, RIL now holds a 56% stake in JioStar, Disney owns 37%, and Bodhi Tree Systems holds the remaining 7%.
Despite captaining the side for several years and being a part of it, Kohli failed to win the IPL trophy. He even took the team to the final back in 2016, but they fell short in the end to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Watching him hold the trophy, celebrating, and even getting emotional was the biggest moment for every cricket fan who has seen him struggle and give his best for his team.
