Mumbai Indians Cricketer Accused of Rape During IPL 2025

Shivalik Sharma, a former Mumbai Indians (MI) player, has been recently booked in a sexual assault case. The case was filed during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The FIR has been registered at the Kudi Bhagtasni police station in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, while the local police have started searching for Shivalik.

According to police reports, the complaint was filed by a woman from Sector 2, Kudi Bhagatsani. She has accused Shivalik of having physical relations with her after promising to marry her. The news has come as a huge shock to the cricketing world, especially since it has come midway through the IPL 2025 season.

Why was Former Mumbai Indians Player Shivalik Sharma Accused?

Reportedly, the woman met the former Mumbai Indians player Shivalik Sharma in Vadodara in February 2023. Over time, they became close and started talking regularly. Their families later met, and the couple got engaged in 2023. However, in August 2024, the woman, who calls herself as Shivalik Sharma wife, was called to Baroda. However, Shivalik’s parents called off the engagement. They told her they wanted a different match for their son.

Speaking about the investigation, ACP Anand Rajpurohit shared more details. He said that after the engagement, Shivalik and the woman got into a physical relationship. A medical examination has been done. The woman’s statement has been recorded in court as part of the investigation.
The police investigation is still ongoing, and the authorities have yet to find Shivalik Sharma. The cricketer and his family have not released any official statements yet.

Shivalik Sharma Career

Shivalik Sharma is a left-handed batter and part-time leg-spinner. He plays domestic cricket for Baroda and has also played alongside star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya and his brother Krunal Pandya. Previously, Mumbai Indians signed him during the IPL 2024 mini-auction for INR 20 lakh. However, he did not play any matches for the team. He was let go by Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Shivalik made his first-class debut in 2018 against Chhattisgarh. He has played 18 first-class matches so far. He has scored 1,087 runs at an impressive average of 43.48. His record includes 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries. In List A cricket, he made his debut in 2023. He has played 13 matches so far, scoring 322 runs at an average of 29.27. He also picked up 2 wickets in this format. In T20s, he has played 17 matches. He scored 349 runs with an average of 24.92 and a strike rate of 147.88. He has two fifties in this format.
