Serious Allegations Against BCCI President Mithun Manhas, Court Orders Probe

BCCI President Mithun Manhas has landed in huge trouble regarding his birth date. The reports claim that Manhas used different birth dates during his younger days that allowed him to play age-group tournaments even when he wasn't eligible.

The right-handed middle order batter used to play domestic cricket for Delhi. He has a fantastic first-class record with an average of close to 46 and was once considered one of the best batsmen in India. He retired from domestic cricket in 2016 after playing for Jammu and Kashmir in his last season.

Mithun Manhas Birth Date Controversy Explained

The complainant Sudarshan Mehta, a former SP and former Joint Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, has alleged that Mithun Manhas has used different birth dates in an attempt to be eligible for junior-level tournaments during his playing days.

According to a report in The Bhaskar, Manhas has different birth dates in several records. The Maharaja Hari Singh Agricultural Collegiate School (MHAC), Nagbani states that his date of birth is December 9, 1977.

On the other hand, Manhas was born on October 12, 1979 as per the records in the websute if the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA). As a result, the complainant has accused Manhas of age fraud.

Manhas initially studied in the Presentation Convent Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. However, he shifted to MHAC School Nagbani in class 6 on 27th July, 1988. His admission number 2236 is listed with a date of birth - 9th December, 1977.

Why No FIR Against Mithun Manhas?

The magistrate feels that a preliminary inquiry is required before registering an FIR in Mithun Manhas court case. As a result, the Nowabad police were asked to investigate the allegations before registering an FIR.

If the investigation suggests any sufficient reason, a criminal action can be taken. However, the court hasn't found the BCCI president guilty as of now. Mithun Manhas age fraud case can tarnish his reputation if it comes out to be true. It can also effect the reputation of the BCCI, the richest cricket board in the world.

The complainant has made a demand of an FIR on provisions related to cheating, fraud and forgery under IPC sections 415, 420 and 462. However, the court hasn't proved Mithun Manhas guilty of the offence yet.
