FC 26 plans to surprise the fans with a World Cup mode despite not having the official licenses for the mega event. The new mode will arrive after a future title update. It will resemble the actual FIFA World Cup 2026 in the game but without the branding, logo and kits.

While there are only 29 national teams in the game right now, the next update may bring a horde of new ones that will make the mode possible. You can find all details below.

FC 26 Plans to Bring a New World Cup Mode with a Twist

As per one of the reliable sources, @ReFiFa, the EA FC 26 World Cup Mode is set to arrive as a generic tournament. Since EA and FIFA failed to sign a deal, the former now plans to bring a generic mode with a custom logo, trophy and graphics. Some licensed teams will be available, but they have yet to be disclosed.

As of now, the officially licensed World Cup mode is only going to arrive in FIFA titles, all of which are only available on mobile platforms.

FC 26 World Cup Mode To Bring Licensed Teams

The makers recently announced the return of the Brazilian National Team in EA FC. The Selacio are expected to return with this upcoming FC 26 World Cup event. In addition to Brazil, the generic tournament, which is set to resemble the real FIFA World Cup 2026, will also feature other already licensed national teams like Canada, Indonesia and more.

The new mode is said to feature 60 teams. The national teams that are not licensed with EA will be available to be played with generic kits. However, you can expect all the national teams to have authentic rosters.

Not only the teams and players, but also some of the official hosting stadiums of the FIFA World Cup 2026 will feature in the FC 26 World Cup mode. This will add to the 'real and immersive experience' of the users. Some of these venues are BC Place, Lumen Field and Mercedes-Benz Arena. This mode may pan out in a similar way to the Euro 2016 mode back when FIFA didn't have it licensed.

FIFA is set to bring a new official game in collaboration with Netflix during the World Cup, and it will be the only title to have the licensed mode. Other official FIFA titles like FIFA Heroes may also feature exclusive World Cup modes.
