FIFA Unveils Digital Football Ecosystem, Adds eFootball As the Official FIFAe Esports Platform

Konami's eFootball has received the official licensing for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, scheduled to begin on 12 June. eFootball has been included in FIFA's long-term digital football gaming strategy. The global body is aiming to build a unified Digital Football Ecosystem by partnering with multiple games ahead of the World Cup.

eFootball to Have Licensed FIFA World Cup 2026 Content

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is going to be a licensed tournament in Konami's premier title, eFootball. FIFA announced this on May 28, 2026, along with the FIFA Digital Football Ecosystem, which will also include some other football simulation games.

The other games that will be part of the FIFA Digital Football Ecosystem are:

• Football Manager 26: SEGA's take on the tactical side of the game, built for the strategic footballing minds.
• eFootball: Previously called PES, Konami's iconic football game that has been around for 30 years.
• Rocket League: Psyonix's popular football-based vehicular soccer arcade game.
• FIFA Rivals: FIFA's first officially licensed title after its rift with EA, lets players get an elite arcade experience.
• FIFA Heroes: An arcade-style football game where you can play with the game's legends and some of the favourite World Cup mascots.
• FIFA Super Soccer: An official FIFA-licensed game built on Roblox for casual playing.
• FIFA WC Launch Edition: Netflix's officially licensed FIFA Simulation title, set to release ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The announcement of the eFootball FIFA World Cup license has stirred the community with excitement, as fans expect some fresh content with licensed teams, kits, stadiums, and even a trophy. While it is certain that most of the FIFA content of eFootball will revolve around esports, some in-game content, like packs and cards are also expected to arrive.

eFootball to Bring Exclusive FIFAe Action

FIFAe World Cup 2026 is the official flagship esports tournament that will be hosted by eFootball. This will be the third edition of eFootball FIFAe, and it will feature both console and mobile platforms. Players from all regions (Africa, Asia, Europe, and America) will be participating in this event.

The third round of the FIFAe Challenger Series concluded on 27 February, 2026. The schedule of the final rounds is yet to be announced by Konami. In addition to the esports event, players can expect to get an offline mode, where they can select their favourite national team and lead them to victory.
