Konami ended the 30th Anniversary event without announcing Master League, disappointing long-time fans of the franchise.
Despite promising its return as a paid DLC since 2023, Master League remains missing in eFootball, even in 2025.
Fans expressed frustration across X and Reddit, accusing Konami of abandoning its core player base in favor of monetized online modes.
eFootball is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this month, which began on July 10 and will continue until July 31, 2025. Recently, Konami also concluded the amazing eFootball World Championship 2025, with the finals being held in Tokyo, Japan. Since its release, eFootball has been doing better and better to make the game known worldwide. However, recently Konami has disappointed the fans, as in the recent 30th Anniversary special event, fans were expecting a surprise and a special announcement for the much-awaited game mode to come back, but it didn't happen.
No Master League in eFootball
Football gaming information and updates provider on X, Infinity FC, revealed that Konami wrapped the eFootball 30th Anniversary special event without the mention of Master League.
Although, Konami promised the fans for a major reveal, they didn't mention anything in the event, upsetting the fans. The tweet from Infinity FC read,
No Master League in #eFootball
Konami wrapped up their big reveal event with no mention of the beloved game mode.
Fans were hoping for a major reveal, but it never came.
Initially called Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), the franchise turned into eFootball in 2021. The last PES game, called PES 2021, was released in 2020 and featured one of the most beloved modes, Master League, which was not included in the future additions of the eFootball series. Initially, Konami announced eFootball as a new platform that would primarily focus on online modes like Dream Team, Co-op mode,s and more, but they excluded Master League at the launch but promised that it would return as a paid DLC in 2023. However, it is 2025 and there is still no sign of it returning to the franchise.
Master League was a highly popular mode in the PES series, as it allowed players to both manage and play as a football club, bringing their own tactics and strategies to the gameplay. Users could customize their teams, manage transfers, scout new players, and even handle the finances, all this while competing in tournaments and championships. The mode provided incredible growth and realism to the users, making the gaming experience worth it. Unfortunately, since 2021, the mode has been away from the eFootball games, keeping fans hanging even this year.
Community Reaction on No Master League in eFootball
As expected, the eFootball community is not happy with Konami for betraying them once again keeping them away from one of the most interesting modes of the game.
Fans have expressed their frustration and rage on multiple social media platforms, including X and Reddit. Numerous fans commented under @theinfinityfc's post, with one of them writing, Konami have killed their game. Its over. EA FC laughing to the bank now
Another user wrote,
This game is dead FIFA became shitty arcade There is not good Football game anymore. That sucks
One user trolled the developers' decisions and wrote,
If these mfs think the game will survive with crap efforts like this, they're really mistaken.
Overall, it seems that Konami is currently prioritizing online modes that are monetized, which is leading to several users switching to other football games and abandoning eFootball. However, a small part of the eFootball community still hopes that in the near future, the Master League mode will be included in the eFootball game series.
