Krafton Announces Major Changes in PUBG PC 2027 Roadmap: India Announced as Separate Region

Summary
PUBG PC Esports is tipped for a complete revamp in the upcoming season as multiple structural changes are in the pipeline for the competitive community. Krafton is reportedly planning to introduce some major changes to the PUBG PC esports ecosystem to make the roadmap more inclusive of minor regions. The news comes on the heels of another groundbreaking announcement of PUBG India Cup 2026, proving Krafton's commitment to developing the game.
Restructuring of the PUBG PC Participating regions
Multiple reports from credible sources are doing the rounds on social media platforms, keeping PUBG PC enthusiasts buzzing with anticipation. According to the news, PUBG esports will adjust its regional tournament structure in 2027, subdividing existing regions to improve existing pathways and adding a new region in India.
- India: The country joins PUBG PC Esports as a new competitive region. Krafton is establishing a standalone PUBG 2027 India region, featuring direct international qualifier slots for international events. The move follows the announcement of the inaugural PUBG India Cup 2026, exclusive to Indian teams.
- EMEA: The EMEA region will be split into three separate regions: Europe, Eurasia, and MENA.
- Americas: The Americas region will also be divided into two sub-regions: North America and South America. The decision aims to provide new opportunities and a relatively easier path for budding teams to reach the global stage.
The PCL official page teased the changes in the PUBG 2027 esports roadmap through a post on its Weibo account. The decision is aimed at providing exposure to teams from various regions, providing teams more chances to reach the international stage
“By adjusting the existing regional tournament system and introducing four phases throughout the year, we aim to create a brand-new competitive environment, allowing more teams to compete for a place on the global stage and prove their strength.”, PCL Tournament said in an official release.
PGS Point System Revamped
Regional league point systems have been removed. Progression and qualification for PGC have been consolidated into a single point system titled PUBG Esports Points, earlier referred to as PGS points.
Qualification points are now earned directly through performance across the 4 PGS phases via PUBG Esports Points, which will be based only on PGS results and will decide PGC qualification.
PUBG PC Esports Introduces New Phases
PUBG Esports 2027 will now consist of four phases, from Phase 1 to Phase 4. Each phase consists of a regional league and its corresponding PUBG Global Series (PGS).
Stage | Timing | Advancement Path |
|---|---|---|
Phase 1 | March - May | Regional League Phase 1 → PGS Global Series Phase 1 |
Phase 2 | May - June | Regional League Phase 2 → PGS Global Series Phase 2 |
Phase 3 | August - September | Regional League Phase 3 → PGS Global Series Phase 3 |
Phase 4 | September - November | Regional League Phase 4 → PGS Global Series Phase 4 |
