The former Barcelona midfielder was born in 1987 in San Joaquin the capital city of Chile. His family belonged to the working-class community and struggled to make ends meet. Arturo Vidal became very fond of football in his childhood and loved to spend time playing in the nearby dusty field. His uncle first noticed his knack and talent, and pushed him towards the path of professional football. At an early age, he joined the youth team of the local Chilean Primera Division club, Colo-Colo.

In 2006-07: After spending a lot of years in training sessions and youth league games, Vidal emerged as a mature player beyond his years. He made his senior professional debut for Colo-Colo and scored three goals for the Chilean club to take them to three Chilean Primera Division titles.

In 2007-2011: After monitoring the growth of Arturo Vidal, Bayer Leverkusen signed him in 2007 and brought him to the Bundesliga when he was delivering a scintillating performance in Chile. The Chilean young prodigy played for four seasons and made 144 appearances across all competitions, recording 21 goals and as many assists for Leverkusen.

In 2011-2015: After overcoming a few injury intervals in Germany, Vidal delivered multiple tremendous displays in the 2010-11 season before joining Juventus for €11 million. Having made 171 appearances and scored 48 goals, the talented playmaker won four consecutive Serie A titles and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies. Vidal also came close to winning the UEFA Champions League in the 2014-15 season but saw Juventus fall short against Barcelona in the final. In 2015-2018: His exploits at Juventus caught the attention of Bayern Munich, and the Bavarians brought him back again to Bundesliga on a four-year contract worth €40 million. In his second stint in Germany, Arturo Vidal won six titles including three back-to-back Bundesliga titles and two DFL Supercups.

In 2018-2020: After his glorious success, Vidal signed for Barcelona and came to La Liga. He spent three years at Camp Nou, playing with some of the best footballers like Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba. He scored his first goal for the Catalan outfit in a 5-1 victory over Real Madrid in El Clasico in 2018. The Chilean international won one La Liga and Supercopa de Espana each before leaving Barcelona in 2020 to join Inter Milan.

In 2020-2022: Vidal spent two-and-a-half years at Serie A. However, he could not contribute a lot to the success of Inter Milan due to his inconsistency and irregular appearances. But, whenever he played, he gave his hundred percent to lead the club to the Serie A and Coppa Italia glories.

In 2022-25: Inter Milan and Vidal parted their ways after the Italian club terminated his contract in 2022. The former Barcelona man travelled to Brazil to join Flamengo. After tendering his service for one year, Vidal then signed with Athletico Paranaense before returning to his boyhood club Colo-Colo in Chile.

Arturo Vidal is a legend in the football history of Chile as the midfielder has written the most glorious chapter of his journey with his nation. Having represented his country at the u-20 youth level in 2007, Vidal began an impressive international journey that saw him finish as the second-highest scorer in the 2007 South American youth championship with six goals.

After making his senior international debut against Venezuela in a friendly match, Vidal continued to remain a regular in the management of Marcelo Bielsa. He was instrumental in Chile’s two consecutive Copa America title victories in 2015 and 2016 and won the Man of the Match award in the 2015 final for his impressive display.
