After training with the first team on multiple occasions, Solanke made his debut for the club in the UEFA Champions League as a substitute. While he did not get regular appearances in the first team since then, he featured in the UEFA Youth League. He was then loaned out to Vitesse, Chelsea’s sister club, in the Eredivisie for an improved game time. He got good minutes and finished the season as the third-top scorer at the club.

Solanke rejected multiple loan offers after that and stayed at Chelsea to fight for a spot in the playing XI.
