Solanke has been touted as a wunderkind since his Chelsea days. He was loved by the ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who said that it would be a failure of his career if Solanke does not become an England international in his tenure. After training with the first team on multiple occasions, Solanke made his debut for the club in the UEFA Champions League as a substitute. While he did not get regular appearances in the first team since then, he featured in the UEFA Youth League. He was then loaned out to Vitesse, Chelsea’s sister club, in the Eredivisie for an improved game time. He got good minutes and finished the season as the third-top scorer at the club.
Solanke rejected multiple loan offers after that and stayed at Chelsea to fight for a spot in the playing XI. Unfortunately, it did not happen and upon the expiry of his contract, he moved to Liverpool. Solanke did not find his feet at Liverpool, scoring only once in his entire tenure and remained in the shadow of the Brazilian Roberto Firmino.
Solanke moved to Bournemouth in January 2019, and was the third most expensive English striker at the time of the transfer, which shocked the fans, considering how little impact he’s had at his previous clubs. Solanke was not off to a great start, not being able to score at a regular basis causing Bournemouth to get relegated back to the Championship. But it was for the better as Solanke started to find his feet and got his confidence back. He showed what he was capable of, taking the responsibility as the main striker and banging goals left and right. Bournemouth quickly bounced back into the Premier League and Solanke continued to make an impact, scoring 25 goals across two seasons.
Solanke became a big name again and got rewarded with a move to Tottenham Hotspur who made him their record signing. Solanke is off to a great start so far, and is expected to fill the huge void left by the club legend Harry Kane.

Solanke has been a part of England’s setup since his youth days. He represented the team in the UEFA U17 Championship in 2014, ending the tournament as the joint top scorer and a winner’s medal. Solanke made his debut in the senior national team in 2017 and made his second appearance seven years later in 2024. With Ivan Toney moving out of the picture now, Solanke has been getting call-ups for the national team and will be hoping to get enough game time to make his country proud.
