It's been strongly reported that former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou is the overwhelming front-runner to be appointed as Santo's replacement at Nottingham Forest. The Evangelos Marianakis-owned club have reportedly decided to appoint Postecoglou as their new head coach and are hoping to finalise a deal to ensure that he can be in the dugout at the Emirates Stadium for Forest's upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal.

Postecoglou has been out of a job since the end of the 2024/25 season, when Tottenham Hotspur sacked him despite the 60-year-old gaffer having helped the London giants win the UEFA Europa League title.

The 60-year-old earned praise during his tenure at Spurs for his bold high defensive line tactics and his attacking football mindset. Spurs were able to win 47 of the 101 matches under Postecoglou after he took over the club in 2023, with the gaffer having a 46.53% win percentage with them. He also helped them win the Europa League title by defeating Manchester United in the final, ending a 16-year trophy drought for the Lilywhites.

Apart from his time at Spurs, Postecoglou has gained success as the head coach of Celtic and Australia in the past too. He helped Celtic win two Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup titles, as well as helping Australia win the AFC Asian Cup and qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
