The defending champions China women's national football team, might have navigated the group stage with ease, but they were made to sweat in the knockouts. Their rivals, Chinese Taipei, frustrated them by holding them to a 0-0 draw as the game went into extra time. However, fatigue will play a key role in their semifinal performance, and head coach Ante Milicic was quick to note that. “We are still recovering and doing what we need to do ahead of tomorrow’s game. Un-Yong Chae scored in the second half, and the hosts looked shaky.

Despite the turbulence, they eventually emerged as winners to make it to the last four. “The way the last couple of games have gone, we have not always been brave enough to control the ball. My way of thinking is with the ball, so that has been the focus,” said Montemurro on his idea to fix his side's problems. He was also full of respect for Milicic and expected a great tactical challenge.

“I have the utmost respect for Ante as a head coach. He’s intelligent, experienced at every level, and knows tournament football inside out. On the pitch, it will be a battle, but I also expect a tactical challenge off the pitch, and we need to be ready for whatever he throws at us.”
