Two African nations go head-to-head in their final game of the international break, as Cote d'Ivoire face off against Cameroon, fresh off their matches in the AFCON qualifiers. While Ivory Coast won against Somalia, Cameroon were held to a draw by the Republic of Congo.

The Cote d'Ivoire national football team won both of their AFCON qualifier matches under new manager Hervé Renard, who is back for his second stint with the Elephants. Two 2-0 wins over Ghana and Somalia put them at the top of Group C, level on points with Gambia, just edging out on goal difference.

Renard has won both of his opening matches with the team now, the same feat which he achieved in 2014, and is the only Ivory Coast manager to win both of his opening games in regulation time in 16 years' time, since Francois Zahoui in 2010.

Renard's teams are known to be solid defensively, which is showcased by just the three shots on target faced in these two games, and are one of the six teams yet to concede a goal in the current AFCON qualifiers.

Although the upcoming game is friendly in nature, this happens to be the toughest test Herve Renard has to face in his managerial stint with Ivory Coast as of now. On the other hand, the Cameroon national football team have also changed personnel at the helm, with David Pagou on the hot seat, who also manages Cameroonian club Coton Sport de Garoua.

After their 3-1 win against Comoros, Cameroon were held to a 1-1 stalemate away from home by the Republic of Congo, which leaves the Indomitable Lions top of the group (Group G) with four points, one more than Namibia.

Cameroon have won just once against Ivory Coast since November 2014, with the latest one coming five years ago in the African World Cup qualifiers, where Sebastian Haller's brace bagged all three points for the Lions.

Cote d'Ivoire have the upper hand in the recent head-to-head fixtures, with four out of five wins. Cameroon have conceded the first goal in four out of the last five occasions against the Indomitable Lions, while Ivory Coast have themselves found the back of the net five out of the last six times in their last six games across all competitions.
