Will Former Premier League Referee David Coote Face Ban for Indecent Child Video?

Former Premier League referee, David Coote, who had officiated big games in the English top flight like Liverpool vs Aston Villa and many more last season has been found guilty of filming a child inappropriately. According to reports, further investigations by Nottinghamshire Police found that the video was filmed back in January 2, 2020 and it surfaced recently. David Coote is expected to appear at Nottinghamshire Magistrates' Court on Thursday for a first hearing concerning the charge. When Was Coote Banned by UEFA and FA?

In November 2024, a video surfaced on social media where Coote was found making derogatory remarks against former Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp, referring to him as German in a very arrogant and indecent manner. The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) suspended Coote and the FA charged him with improper conduct under Rule E3.1. In 2024, he was also accused of alleged drug use at the Euro 2024 in Germany. UEFA later banned him until 2026 from further officiating continental games and the FA asked him to attend an educational program for proper conduct of match officials.

If Coote is found guilty of filming a child indecently, he could be convicted under UK Law for Category A offenses, and can result in severe sentences, including imprisonment. He might even be permanently disqualified from any future roles within professional sports.
