The stage is set for the 68th edition for the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony at Chatelet Theatre in Paris. This year the biggest headline will be the absence of the two iconic players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, holders of 13 Ballon d’Or wins between them as neither of the two have been nominated for the first time in 20 years. This years Ballon d’Or ceremony will began from 7 PM GMT on Monday August 28, 2024.

The award honours the year’s best players, coaches and clubs in recognition of their outstanding achievements. Presented by the French Football since 1956, for the third time in history they will be giving the award based on the results of the season instead of the calendar year, which is from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024.

The Ballon d’Or winners are decided by journalists from the top 100 countries in FIFA rankings. Each journalist, one per country, selects 10 players in ranked order with points for each position. Apart from the best player of the season, other awards are also given which include best women’s player, best young footballer, best goalkeeper, most goals scored by a player and award for humanitarian work in the individual player’s category.
