Ligue 1
  • Ligue 1 has come up with a new broadcasting model to attract more viewers.
  • A total of eight games will be streamed live each weekend.
  • Ticket prices have been reduced for young viewers too.

The French top division has garnered considerable attention, particularly after Paris Saint-Germain's rapid rise in European football. Luis Enrique's side has not only created history by becoming the second French club in history to win the UEFA Champions League, but they are also on the verge of conquering the world, having made it to the finals of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Amidst so much spotlight on PSG, a lot of attention has now been diverted to Ligue 1, the top tier of French football, where PSG competes. Earlier, hefty subscription prices made things difficult for football enthusiasts as they preferred streaming relatively more competitive leagues like the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and Bundesliga. Now, Ligue 1 has come up with a new subscription model to attract more viewers to the French league.

Ligue 1+ to Stream Ligue 1 Games at a Lower Price

Recently, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has come up with a proposal to launch an in-house streaming platform, Ligue 1+, to attract more subscribers. This is speculated to be a game-changing move after many subscribers complained of poor service, despite paying hefty annual subscriptions to stream Ligue 1 games.

A nominal price of 14.99 euros per month for an annual subscription is revolutionary. The platform is set to be launched on 15th August, 2025, two days before the commencement of the new season.

Additionally, in the opening weekend, the live stream of the PSG vs Nantes game will be free of cost. This package also gives access to the Trophée des Champions, the relegation playoffs, alongside the two final match weeks. All the live streams can be accessed on mobile, tablet or PC as well.

Special Discounted Price for Viewers Under 26 Years

An annual subscription fee of 14.99 euros will drop significantly to 9.99 euros a month for viewers below the age of 26 years. This move hopes to attract a young football-loving audience to watch Ligue 1 games. By the end of the 2025/26 season, the LFP estimates to attract at least one million subscribers. To offer diverse streaming options for subscribers, the platform is also planning to include children's programmes and broadcasts focused on Esports too.

With the growing stature of French teams in European football, the league is set to get a major boost in terms of viewers and audiences as well. The move to reduce subscription charges and provide a much better streaming alternative can be a game changer for French football leagues as more and more young viewers from every corner of this planet are expected to stream into the action, thrill and suspense of Ligue 1.
