The 34-year-old Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was sentenced to four years in prison earlier this year for his involvement in an attempt to smuggle 60 kilograms of cannabis into the United Kingdom. Before his imprisonment, he played for the Scottish club Greenock Morton, but the club terminated his contract following his arrest. After serving 10 months of his four-year sentence, Emmanuel-Thomas was released on parole from HMP Chelmsford earlier this month. He has now signed a contract with AFC Totton, a club that competes in the National League South.

Emmanuel-Thomas, who will now don the number 14 jersey for the Snows Stadium club, made his debut in a friendly match against Weymouth on Tuesday. Known for his expertise in the English Football League (EFL), Emmanuel-Thomas is a promising addition to Jimmy Ball's squad, which achieved the remarkable feat of being promoted to the sixth tier for the first time in their history last season. The former England youth international boasts an impressive career, having played nearly 250 matches across the Championship and League One and representing notable clubs such as Queens Park Rangers (QPR) and Cardiff City. Also known as 'JET,' Emmanuel-Thomas had a productive spell at Portman Road, where he scored nine goals in 75 appearances after signing with the Blues for £1.1 million from Arsenal in 2011. Following his time with Ipswich Town, he made a move to Bristol City, where he further established himself by playing 82 games, scoring 24 goals, and securing both the League One title and the EFL Trophy.
