Neymar in Court: What Led to the Legal Charges Against the Brazilian Star?

Just as things were looking to improve both on the professional and personal front, Brazilian star Neymar Jr is faced with another controversy. According to reports, the forward is being sued by his former chef, who filed a lawsuit this Friday regarding exploitation at workplace.

The plaintiff, who worked for Neymar from July 2025 to February 2026, decided to take legal action against him and his company, which hired her. She has claimed that the ex-Barcelona player used to make her work for extra hours, sometimes stretching upto 16 hours a day, where she had to make meals for at least 150 people, if not more, and wasn't being paid adequately for the hard work she did.

She also mentioned that she has suffered physical injuries from the immense effort she put in, especially back and shoulder pain from lifting 10 kgs of meat and heavy utensils.

This Neymar case has come as a shock for many, with the timing being just ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Brazilian superstar will look to have it over in due time to avoid unnecessary psychological baggage before he starts preparations for a place in the global gathering event.

Further details of the Neymar case reveal that the Brazilian has been asked to compensate for the damages, which include medical coverage for her, child support, and an unpaid sum of €43,000, according to her overtime hours.

Did Neymar Face Charges In Court In the Past?

This is not the first time that Neymar has faced charges in court. Earlier, he too had to face legal troubles regarding his 2013 transfer from Santos to FC Barcelona. The Brazilian superstar has been acquitted in a corruption case brought by the DIS, a company that owned 40% of Neymar's rights when he was at Santos.

The DIS argued that they didn't receive their cut of the fee from the transfer, as they were not informed of the true value by either Barcelona or Neymar's agent, who happened to be his own father.

Later, Neymar's father, ex-Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu, and former Santos FC president Odilio Rodrigues were found not guilty of the charges by the Spanish court.
