The UEFA Champions League Playoff draw for the 2025/26 season took place on August 4, 2025, in Nyon, Switzerland, setting the stage for the upcoming edition of the UEFA Champions League. In the UCL PLayoff draw, 14 teams were divided into 2 groups. The first group in the UEFA Champions League Playoff draw for the 2025/26 is known as the Champions Path, which contains 10 teams and the second group, with 4 teams, is called the League Path. They’ll face off in two-legged matches on August 19/20 and 26/27, 2025, to grab seven spots in the 36-team league phase, starting September 16.

The UCL draw paired teams based on their 2025 UEFA rankings, with the first team drawn hosting the opening leg. Winners will join the likes of the most successful club in Premier League history Liverpool and the reigning UCL champions PSG. While other teams will get a spot in the UEFA Europa League.

The UCL playoff draw has set the path for teams around Europe to make thier spot amongst the final 36 teams, which will compete to win one of the most expensive trophies. The Champions Path features five matchups, including big names like Celtic and Basel, plus six teams still battling through the third qualifying round (some opponents are TBD). Teams to Watch Out for in the UCL Playoff

Several big teams are in the UCL draw for the playoffs, such as Celtic (Scotland), a seeded team in the Champions Path, which brings experience and a bunch of passionate fan base, making them a strong contender despite facing a yet-to-be-determined opponent. Another team that have a good reputation in the Norwegian circuit is the Bodø/Glimt (Norway).

Additionally, the Portuguese team Benfica, which have produced the likes of Angel Di Maria, the Argentine legend, is also included in the UEFA Champions League Playoff Draw, making it more competitive. Red Bull Salzburg (Austria), likely to progress against Club Brugge, is another team to watch, known for their youth development and dynamic play. The Red Bull Salzburg team that are progressing under the Red Bull group headed by one of the greatest coaches of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, makes the tournament more interesting and tough.
