Where to Watch Borussia Dortmund vs FC Barcelona in UEFA Champions League for Free?

Needing to provide Barcelona a taste of their remontada remedy to remain in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund welcome the Catalan powerhouses for Tuesday’s quarter-final second leg at Signal Iduna Park.

The Bundesliga team was crushed 4-0 by Hansi Flick’s squad in the initial match last week, as La Blaugrana set one foot firmly in a semi-final confrontation with either Inter Milan or Bayern Munich. All three of Flick’s prolific forwards, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal, performed exceptionally in last week’s first leg, with Lewandowski netting twice against his former team, complemented by goals from Raphinha and Yamal, the latter of whom equaled Messi’s club record for the most goal contributions in a single Champions League season (19).

While Barcelona fans reveled, the Dortmund supporters likely lamented their hopes of advancing further in this season’s Champions League compared to their performance in 2023-24, as in the last 159 instances where a team has lost the first leg of a UCL knockout match by four goals or more, that team has been eliminated 158 times.

Only Barcelona themselves (against Paris Saint-Germain in 2017) have ever achieved such a remarkable comeback, and Dortmund’s persistent inconsistency during a troubled 2024-25 season renders it nearly impossible to picture Niko Kovac’s squad replicating the Catalans’ performance on Tuesday.

BVB at least retained their pride from Saturday’s Bundesliga Klassiker against Bayern Munich, managing a commendable 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena, but they can only claim a meager three wins from their last 12 encounters at Signal Iduna Park, where their foundation has started to crumble.

That dismal home stretch for Borussia Dortmund notably includes a 3-2 defeat to Barcelona during the league phase, a result that has added to La Blaugrana’s six-match unbeaten streak against the German giants in European contests. With two victories over Dortmund and a 4-1 rout of Bayern this season, Barcelona has secured wins in their last three UCL matches against German opponents after previously losing their last five before that, indicating a shift in the hierarchy as Flick’s team aims to fulfill their favorites’ status.

Borussia Dortmund had to manage without Pascal Gross in the first leg due to suspension, but the former Brighton and Hove Albion player is now fit to return to the midfield on Tuesday, just as he did in Der Klassiker. Kovac will still be without knee-injury victims Marcel Sabitzer and Nico Schlotterbeck – the latter of whom will be sidelined for months – but the BVB manager otherwise has a complete array of options at his disposal.

On Barcelona’s behalf, the visitors’ victory against Leganes over the weekend came at a cost, as left-back Alejandro Balde incurred a hamstring injury that is anticipated to keep him out of action until the end of the month.

Gerard Martin serves as a direct substitute for his teammate and is likely to be chosen in defense at the Signal Iduna Park, where Marc Bernal (knee), Marc-Andre ter Stegen (knee), and Marc Casado (knee) will similarly find themselves on the bench.
