Korea Republic vs Jordan Preview

  • Competition: World Cup Qualifiers
  • Date: Tuesday, 25 March
  • Kick-Off Time: 11:00 AM GMT
  • Venue: Suwon World Cup Stadium

The Korea Republic vs Jordan match will take place on Tuesday, 25 March at the Suwon World Cup Stadium. The table toppers will host the second-placed team in the World Cup Qualifiers.

The home side has had disappointing results in successive games but remains well on course for an 11th consecutive World Cup appearance.

They were held to a 1-1 draw in their last match, and despite dominating the game and creating chance after chance they failed to win the game. Oman scored in the final 10 minutes of the game and got a point away from home. Despite having star players in their lineup they failed to put the ball into the net on many occasions. With seven games played in the third round of the World Cup Qualifiers, they have won four matches, drawn three and are undated in the group with 15 points on the table. They do have a good record against Jordan and surely with the home advantage on their side, they will look to win this upcoming fixture.

On the other hand, Jordan have performed brilliantly in their qualification campaign so far as they continue their push for a debut World Cup appearance next year.

They picked up a dominating 3-1 home win over Palestine in their last match, with three different players getting on the scoresheet. The visitors are now second in the group with 12 points from seven matches. They are just three points behind their midweek opponents in the first place and could potentially go top with a statement win on Tuesday. Jordan has only beaten Korea Republic once which was in the Asian Cup Semi-finals and they will hope to do it again. This will be a mouthwatering clash for sure.

Key Players to Watch in Korea Republic vs Jordan

Hwang Hee-Chan (South Korea)

Hwang Hee-Chan
Korea Republic winger Hwang Hee-Chan (Image Credit: Official X account of Wolves)

He is a lethal player in the frontline who is capable of beating any defense in Asia. Hwang is strong and a solid player who is capable of scoring as well as assisting his teammates as well. Overall, he is a fine player who can make a difference on the field. Currently, he plays for Wolves in the Premier League which shows his quality.

Even though he is not the captain his attitude and behavior make him a captain material for sure. With his pace and acceleration, he can create a lot of problems for the away side. In the World Cup Qualifiers, he has scored seven goals, for Wolves this season he has played 18 games in which he has scored two goals. He did miss some chances against Oman but he will look to not do the same against Jordan. Hwang will have to be at his best as Jordan will not be an easy team to beat.

Musa Al-Taamari (Jordan)

Al-Taamari is a nightmare for the Korean team as he was the player who played a brilliant game against them in the Asian Cup which helped Jordan to qualify for the finals. The intensity with which Al-Taamari plays is on a different level and with his runs and movements he can create a lot of chances for his team. His qualities make him a valuable player to have, regardless of the tactical approach or setup. His influence on Jordan's football is huge as he is the first-ever player to play in Ligue 1. Taamari didn't a lot of games for the club this season but still, the home team can't take him lightly as he is capable of getting results for his team.

Korea Republic vs Jordan Prediction

Jordan has improved a lot in the last few years and has always challenged Korea Republic. This will be an exciting and close fixture for sure. Korea will be disappointed with their draw against Oman and will be looking forward to getting three points at home, but Jordan has players who can create a lot of trouble for the home side. Most probably this fixture will end in a stalemate.

Predicted Score: Korea Republic 1-1 Jordan
