Bhutan 0-1 Bangladesh Player Ratings: Mohammad Ibrahim's Strike Seals Win For Bangladesh As They Dominate Bhutan In Their Opening Group Stage Fixture

Bhutan faced off against Bangladesh in their first group stage game of the 2026 SAFF Championship, and the first half was purely dominated by Jamal Bhuyan and co. Bangladesh had 64% possession and took 12 shots in total, of which two were on target.

Even with less possession, the Bhutan national football team had a similar number of shots on target, but they too failed to find the back of the net. The deadlock was finally broken in the 69th minute, when Mohammad Ibrahim scored off a defensive mistake from Bhutan, who had two opportunities to clear the ball away but kept heading the ball in their own box.

In the end, the Bangladesh national football team went away with all three points, putting an extended foot into the knockout stages.
