Brest vs Paris Player Ratings

Paris pulled off a hard-fought 2-1 win against Brest in a tense Ligue 1 match. The visitors were ruthless in the first half. Willem Geubbels got them started with a sharp finish. Then, Vincent Marchetti doubled their lead before halftime. Brest looked a bit shell-shocked. They just couldn't handle the visitors' early intensity.

The second half was a completely different story. Brest came out fighting. They got a lifeline when Ludovic Ajorque won a penalty, which Romain Del Castillo coolly converted. From that moment on, it was all Brest. They threw everything they had at the Paris defence. What really stood out to us was how Paris managed to hold on. Paris even went down to ten men after Otávio received a late red card.

But their goalkeeper, Obed Nkambadio, was simply outstanding, making save after save. He was certainly the highest-rated player on the pitch. It was a gritty, backs-to-the-wall performance to secure the three points in this match. Here are the Brest vs Paris player ratings.

Brest Player Ratings vs Paris

Here are the Brest player ratings.

Goalkeeper

Grégoire Coudert - 6.0: We felt he couldn't have done much for either of the goals he conceded. One was a close-range strike and the other a tap-in. He made a couple of decent saves and was okay with his distribution. It was an average day at the office for the keeper, who wasn't really at fault for the loss.

Defenders

Bradley Locko - 5.5: A tough afternoon for the left-back. He seemed to struggle with the pace of the Paris attack at times and was dribbled past. He did make a few tackles but his overall impact was limited before being substituted late in the game. We expected a bit more from him.

Junior Diaz - 6.5: A solid and steady performance from our perspective. He was tidy in possession, boasting a 90% pass accuracy. He also recovered the ball nine times for his team. However, he'll be kicking himself for missing that glorious chance late in the game to equalize. That miss really cost his team.

Brendan Chardonnet - 8.0: The captain was an absolute warrior. Defensively, he was immense, winning most of his duels and making nine clearances. What stood out to us was his attacking threat from set-pieces; he registered four shots on target, more than any of his team's attackers. An outstanding and spirited performance.

Kenny Lala - 6.5: A very busy performance on the right flank. He was a willing runner and tried to make things happen, delivering five crosses into the box. He was mostly solid defensively, though he was dribbled past once. A decent shift without being spectacular.

Midfielders

Joris Chotard - 6.0: He put in a shift in the middle of the park but failed to really impose himself on the game. His passing was neat, but he didn't offer much in the final third. We noticed he was more of a passenger than a driving force in the midfield battle.

Kamory Doumbia - 4.0: A day to forget for the midfielder. His costly error directly led to a Paris goal, which is a cardinal sin in a tight match like this. He was also dribbled past five times, showing a lack of defensive awareness. From our perspective, he was the worst performer on the pitch and his substitution was completely justified.

Hamidou Makalou - 5.0: Tried to get involved with a couple of shots but he was largely ineffective. What was alarming was his tendency to lose possession and the fact he lost all of his duels. He just didn't seem up for the physical battle and was rightly substituted in the second half.

Forwards

Romain Del Castillo - 7.5: Brest's brightest spark in attack. He showed great composure to tuck away his penalty and bring his team back into the game. He was a constant threat, creating three chances for his teammates. Yes, he lost possession a lot, but that was because he was always trying to make something happen.

Mama Baldé - 5.0: A really quiet first half from the striker. He had a few shots blocked but was otherwise completely anonymous. It was no surprise to us when he was hooked at halftime. He just couldn't get into the game at all.

Ludovic Ajorque - 7.0: A real handful for the Paris defence. His physicality was a major weapon, as he won the crucial penalty and drew five fouls. He was a great target man, winning plenty of aerial duels. However, his rating is tempered by the big chance he missed.

Substitutes

Pathé Mboup - 6.0: Came on at half-time but didn't make a huge impact.

Junior Dina Ebimbe - 6.0: Added some fresh legs but couldn't change the result.

Rémy Labeau Lascary - N/A: Not on long enough to warrant a rating.

Daouda Guindo - N/A: Came on very late in the game.

Manager

E. Roy - 6.0: His team showed great character to fight back in the second half. However, they were undone by individual errors and a lack of clinical finishing. The first-half performance left them with too much to do.

Paris Player Ratings vs Brest

Here are the Paris player ratings.

Goalkeeper

Obed Nkambadio - 8.5: Man of the Match, without a doubt. He was absolutely phenomenal between the sticks, making six saves, with five of those coming from shots inside the box. He commanded his area and relieved pressure on his defence. It was a match-winning display, and Paris have him to thank for the three points.

Defenders

Moustapha Mbow - 8.0: A colossal performance at the back. He was dominant in the air and on the ground, winning 100% of his ground duels. With nine clearances and a near-perfect pass accuracy, he was a picture of composure and strength. What a fantastic showing.

Otávio - 5.0: He was having a solid game, making an incredible 16 clearances. But his performance will be remembered for the moment of madness that saw him get a straight red card. He put his team under immense pressure for the final minutes, and that rash decision heavily brings down his rating.

Thibault De Smet - 7.0: A very tidy and efficient performance. He didn't do anything flashy, but he did his defensive duties superbly, winning the majority of his duels and using the ball intelligently. A really reliable display from the defender.

Samir Chergui - 8.0: Another defensive hero for Paris. His goal-line clearance was as good as a goal, and he was a rock at the back with his tackling and interceptions. He read the game beautifully and was a key reason Brest couldn't find an equalizer. An excellent outing.

Midfielders

Vincent Marchetti - 7.0: He only played 45 minutes but his impact was huge. He popped up with a crucial goal to double the lead. His yellow card probably led to his substitution at halftime, but he did his job perfectly in the time he was on the pitch.

Maxime Lopez - 7.5: The captain ran the show from midfield. His passing was crisp and accurate, and he dictated the tempo of the game for his side. He also chipped in with an assist and created a big chance. A classy performance from a quality player.

Pierre Lees-Melou - 5.0: A clumsy and frustrating game from him. He gave away the penalty with a silly foul, which invited Brest back into the match. While he worked hard, that single error proved very costly and put his team on the back foot for the entire second half.

Forwards

Willem Geubbels - 7.5: Scored the all-important opening goal with a smart finish. He looked lively and was a threat before being substituted. A very effective contribution that set the tone for his team's victory. We were impressed with his clinical nature.

Ilan Kebbal - 7.0: An absolute workhorse. He won an incredible 11 duels and completed four dribbles, constantly causing problems for the Brest defence. The only blemish was a big chance missed, but his relentless energy and tenacity were vital for his team.

Moses Simon - 6.0: He created a big chance for his team but was otherwise on the periphery of the game. He struggled to get involved and was dispossessed a couple of times. A quiet hour of football for the winger before he was taken off.

Jean-Philippe Krasso - 6.0: Helped hold up the ball and relieve pressure late on.

Alimami Gory - 6.0: Provided fresh legs on the wing.

Nhoa Sangui - N/A: Not enough time to mark.

Timothée Kolodziejczak - N/A: Came on to see out the game.

Manager

S. Gilli - 7.5: His game plan worked perfectly. His team was clinical in the first half and showed immense resilience to defend their lead in the second, especially after going down to 10 men. A fantastic tactical victory on the road.
