Denmark 2-4 Portugal Player Ratings: Bruno Fernandes 8.9/10 as the Seleccao Blow Away the Danes in Copenhagen

The football was breathtaking enough on its own, yet the story that will dominate Portuguese football's headlines long after the final whistle at Parken was the moment Rafael Leao walked out wearing the number 7 jersey that has belonged, in the national consciousness of an entire generation, to Cristiano Ronaldo alone. Jorge Jesus' decision to hand the iconic shirt to Leao following his reported rift with Portugal's all-time leading scorer was the most significant symbolic moment in the Seleccao's post-Ronaldo transition, and the Galatasaray forward responded with a performance of direct, explosive quality that suggested he is ready to carry its weight on the grandest possible stage.

Bruno Fernandes was the evening's orchestral conductor, his vision, tempo, and creative authority providing the platform from which Portugal's three goals were constructed with a precision and intelligence that the Denmark national football team, despite twice pulling themselves level, simply could not consistently match. Cancelo's composed 13th-minute opener gave the Selecção an early platform, yet Damsgaard's brilliant equaliser and Højlund's characteristic clinical header demonstrated that Brian Riemer's Denmark, twice beaten in this Nations League window, retain the individual quality to threaten any side in Europe when their attacking momentum is flowing.

Ramos' composed 25th-minute header restored the Portugal national football team's advantage before Højlund's 53rd-minute equaliser sent Parken into delirium and set up a breathless final half-hour that ultimately belonged entirely to Portugal's depth and quality. Vitinha's composed 67th-minute finish proved the decisive third before Joao Felix, introduced from the bench with 20 minutes remaining, added the exclamation mark in the 87th minute with a clinical finish that completed a 4-2 victory of the most commanding and authoritative nature, one that sends an unmistakable message about Portugal's Nations League title credentials.
