East Bengal 0-2 Al Seeb Player Ratings: Late Slip Up Costs The Red & Gold Brigade As Al Seeb Hand Drastic Defeat To Habas' Men On Home Turf

After three draws in their opening three group stage fixtures and with their knockout hopes on the line, East Bengal hosted Omani club Al-Seeb at their own backyard, in a bid to clinch all three points.

Although the home side dominated the proceedings, they looked quite blunt in front of goal. They had three shots on target, one short of their opponents, and couldn't make much of their superior possession. It is also important to note that they created only one big chance in this game, which shows their failure to turn up when it mattered the most.

Al Seeb, on the other hand, are at the bottom of the table with an inferior goal difference despite being level on points with the Red and Gold Brigade. They, too, didn't offer much in this game, so it is safe to say that the game was an eyesore.

However, Al Seeb got their winner out of nowhere in the 85th minute, as Hassan Al Ajmi's cross was well controlled by Axel Méyé, before turning and shooting hard at the near post, leaving Phurba Lachenpa with no chance to make an effort.

Axel Méyé won the ball in the middle of the park and found Zahir Al Aghbari in acres of space, who ran towards goal at full pace, applying a fine finish to complete the swift counterattack, effectively ending any hopes of an East Bengal comeback.
