Everton Vs Newcastle United Player Ratings

Summary

  • It looked like old Newcastle United came out of sleep as they scored 4 goals against in-form Everton in the EPL.
  • Lewis Miley was the best player of the game.

Newcastle United delivered an absolute masterclass at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. They completely dismantled a hapless Everton side. From our perspective, the game was over before it truly began.

Newcastle United stormed out of the gates. Malick Thiaw headed them in front inside the first minute. The goal came from a corner, setting the tone for the entire match. Everton looked shell-shocked and never really recovered from that early blow. The Magpies just kept coming.

Before the halftime whistle, the visitors had a three-goal cushion. Lewis Miley added a second with a cool finish. Then, just before the break, Nick Woltemade made it 3-0. This Premier League encounter was turning into a nightmare for the home fans. Everton's defense was in complete disarray.

The second half brought more of the same dominance. Thiaw grabbed his second of the game, another header from a corner. While Everton did pull one back through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, it was nothing more than a consolation. It was a statement victory for Newcastle in this match, and a day to forget for the Toffees.

Everton Player Ratings vs Newcastle United

Here are Everton Player Ratings vs Newcastle United

Goalkeeper

Jordan Pickford - 4.5: A horrible day at the office for the England number one. He was forced to pick the ball out of his net four times. What stood out to us was his costly error leading to a goal, which really deflated the team. He made a couple of saves but it was a thankless task behind a defense that crumbled so easily. He looked visibly frustrated.

Defenders

Michael Keane - 5.0: Looked completely overwhelmed by the pace and movement of Newcastle's attack. While he made six clearances, he was a step behind the play for most of the match. From our perspective he struggled to impose himself physically. It was a tough afternoon where he was simply chasing shadows. A day he'll want to move on from quickly.

James Tarkowski - 6.0: As captain, he tried to rally the troops but it felt like a losing battle from the first whistle. He surprisingly popped up with an assist and made a crucial clearance off the line. However, he was the leader of a defensive unit that was completely dismantled. A very mixed performance, showing fight but ultimately part of a failing system.

Jake O'Brien - 5.0: A difficult outing for the defender who was part of a backline that conceded four. He found it hard to cope with the fluid interchange of the Magpies' forwards. We noticed he lost possession cheaply on a few occasions, putting his team under more pressure. A steep learning curve for him today.

Vitaliy Mykolenko - 6.0: One of the few Everton players to emerge with a sliver of credit. He provided the cross for his team's consolation goal and was diligent with his defensive duties making four interceptions. Despite his personal effort, he was still on the receiving end of a thrashing. He never gave up, which is more than can be said for some of his teammates.

Midfielders

Iliman Ndiaye - 5.5: He put in a shift, running hard and recovering the ball six times. However, his impact in the final third was minimal, and he provided the cross for a big missed chance. He was tidy in possession for the most part but lacked the creative spark needed to unlock the opposition. A lot of effort for little reward.

Jack Grealish - 5.0: A very quiet and ineffective performance from a player of his calibre. We honestly barely noticed he was on the pitch. He lost possession an alarming 15 times and failed to create anything of note. From our perspective, he looked off the pace and disinterested, a passenger in a game his team desperately needed him in.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - 6.5: Scored Everton's only goal, a moment of personal pride on a day of collective shame. He was one of the few trying to drive the team forward from midfield. He took his goal well from close range. However he was often fighting a lone battle against a superior midfield unit. His effort can't be faulted.

James Garner - 6.0: He kept the ball moving with an impressive 96% pass accuracy. But that stat is misleading; most of his passes were safe and sideways. He failed to provide any real penetration or defensive cover for his backline. A neat and tidy performance that ultimately lacked any significant impact on the game.

Tim Iroegbunam - 3.0: An absolute disaster of a performance. His first half was defined by a catastrophic error that led directly to a Newcastle United goal. It was no surprise to see him hooked at halftime. A rating and a match he will want to forget immediately. It's hard to find any positives from his display.

Forwards

Thierno Barry - 6.0: A frustrating afternoon for the striker. He initially thought he'd scored a good goal, only for it to be ruled out before another chance fell his way. He also squandered a golden opportunity, heading over from point-blank range. His day summed up Everton's lack of a clinical edge when it mattered most.

Substitutes

Charly Alcaraz (45') - 6.5: Came on at halftime and immediately offered more than the man he replaced. He was so unlucky to see his powerful shot cannon back off the crossbar. He brought energy and a directness that had been missing. A bright spark on an otherwise dark day for the Toffees.

Manager

D. Moyes - 4.0: His team was outplayed, outfought, and out-thought from the first minute. The tactical setup was completely wrong, leaving them exposed and vulnerable. They looked unprepared for Newcastle's intensity, especially at home. A grim and worrying performance that falls squarely on the manager's shoulders.

Goalkeeper

Aaron Ramsdale - 6.5: It was a very comfortable afternoon for the keeper. He had just one save to make all game. He couldn't do much about the consolation goal he conceded. He distributed the ball reasonably well and marshalled his area when needed. One of the easiest games he'll have all season.

Defenders

Lewis Hall - 8.0: A fantastic performance from the left-back. He was a constant outlet on the wing, delivering five crosses and grabbing a well-deserved assist for Thiaw's second goal. He was defensively solid, winning his tackles and looking confident. A really impressive, all-action display that caught our eye.

Malick Thiaw - 8.5: What a strange, brilliant game from the central defender. He was an unbelievable threat from set-pieces, scoring two powerful headers. His aerial dominance was a key factor in the win. It was surprising to see he was also credited with an error leading to a goal, but his offensive heroics more than made up for it. A dominant performance.

Tino Livramento - 5.5: In a team of heroes, he was perhaps the one player who had an off day. An error from him led directly to a goal, a real blemish on the result. He seemed a little shaky defensively compared to his teammates. He'll be relieved his personal errors didn't cost the team in the end.

Dan Burn - 7.5: A classic Big Dan Burn performance. He was defensively solid, winning his aerial duels and making crucial clearances. He even ventured forward to provide a clever assist for Lewis Miley's goal. His experience and physicality were vital in nullifying any threat down his side. A job well done.

Midfielders

Joelinton - 7.0: A typically industrious and powerful performance in the engine room. He didn't do anything spectacular, but he didn't have to. He broke up play, recycled possession, and provided a physical presence that Everton's midfield couldn't handle. A vital cog in this well-oiled machine.

Bruno Guimarães - 7.0: The captain led by example with a composed and classy display. He controlled the tempo of the game from deep, spreading the ball around with ease. He was positionally perfect, making two key interceptions and two tackles. He just makes everything look so easy.

Lewis Miley - 9.0: The undisputed Man of the Match. What a performance from the youngster. He ran the game, scoring a goal and providing a superb assist. His energy, composure, and quality were on a different level. This was a statement performance from our highest-rated player, a sign of a truly special talent.

Forwards

Harvey Barnes - 6.5: He looked lively and got into dangerous positions, but his final product let him down. He had a big chance that he failed to convert. It was a decent outing where he contributed to the team's attacking play, but he'll be disappointed not to get on the scoresheet in a 4-1 win.

Anthony Elanga - 7.5: His direct running and pace were a nightmare for the Everton backline all game. He capped a fine performance with a great assist for Woltemade's goal. He was a constant threat and played with a confidence that was infectious. A really exciting display.

Nick Woltemade - 8.0: He led the line brilliantly. He took his goal with great composure, a crucial strike just before halftime that killed the game. He was a physical handful for the defenders, winning aerial duels and linking up play effectively. A very impressive centre-forward performance.

Substitutes

Joe Willock (71') - N/A: Came on to see out the game when the three points were already secured.

Jacob Ramsey (71') - N/A: Had little time to make any real impact on the proceedings.

Manager

E. Howe - 9.0: This was a tactical masterclass from Eddie Howe. His side started with blistering intensity and executed the game plan to perfection. They were aggressive, clinical, and dominant in every phase of play. He'll be absolutely delighted with how his team dismantled the opposition so ruthlessly.
