Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool Player Ratings

What a night of Champions League football. Liverpool delivered an absolute masterclass at Deutsche Bank Park, coming from behind to dismantle Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1. From our perspective, this was a statement performance. The hosts actually stunned the visitors by taking the lead. Rasmus Kristensen finished coolly in the 26th minute, and for a moment, an upset felt possible. That feeling did not last long. Liverpool's response was nothing short of breathtaking.

They were relentless. Hugo Ekitiké equalized before Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté both scored headers from set-pieces to completely turn the match on its head before halftime. The intensity was something else. The second half continued the onslaught. Eintracht Frankfurt simply had no answer to the movement and creativity of the Reds. C. Gakpo added a fourth, and the sensational Dominik Szoboszlai capped off a man-of-the-match display with a sublime long-range strike. It was a brutal, efficient, and often beautiful demolition job from the visitors.

Liverpool Player Ratings vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Goalkeeper

Giorgi Mamardashvili - 6.0: Honestly, he had very little to do. He conceded once but couldn't be faulted for the goal. He was a spectator for most of the game as his team dominated possession and territory. His distribution was tidy enough with 90% accuracy, but this was a quiet evening for the keeper.

Defenders

Virgil van Dijk - 7.5: A true captain's performance. After the initial shock of going behind, he was immense. He scored a crucial header to give his side the lead, asserting his dominance in the opposition box. Defensively, he was a rock, winning 4 of his 5 duels and making 6 clearances. What stood out to us was how he organized the backline to ensure there were no more slip-ups.

Ibrahima Konaté - 7.5: Like his partner, he grabbed a goal from a corner, showcasing his aerial threat. He was strong and proactive, making 3 crucial interceptions before being substituted. His passing was crisp, and he looked confident stepping out from the back.

Andrew Robertson - 7.5: A classic performance from the Scotsman. He provided the vital assist for the equalizer with a rapid counter-attack. He was a constant outlet on the left, delivering 5 crosses and always looking to get forward. We noticed he was also diligent in his defensive duties, making 3 interceptions. He just never stops running.

Jeremie Frimpong - 5.5: A frustrating and very short outing for him. He was unfortunately forced off with an injury after just 19 minutes. He was caught offside once and committed a foul, but he never really had time to make any impact on the game..

Midfielders

Florian Wirtz - 8.5: Simply magical to watch. He was the creative engine, pulling the strings and providing two brilliant assists. He created a total of four chances, including two big chances. His vision and weight of pass were on another level. He did lose possession a few times, but his attacking contributions were so significant it hardly mattered.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 9.5: What a player. This was a flawless performance and our highest-rated player on the pitch. He controlled the tempo of the entire game with an incredible 110 passes and 95% accuracy. He provided an assist from a corner and then scored an absolute screamer from outside the box. A goal, an assist, and 5 key passes. He was unplayable.

Curtis Jones - 7.5: The metronome in midfield. He completed an astounding 122 of 127 passes, recycling possession with incredible efficiency. While others provided the fireworks, his control was the foundation for their dominance. He won the majority of his duels and kept things ticking over beautifully. An unsung hero of the performance.

C. Gakpo - 8.5: Played in a more withdrawn role but was devastatingly effective. He got a goal and an assist before being subbed, constantly drifting into dangerous pockets of space. He created four chances and was a nightmare for the Frankfurt defence to track. A very intelligent and impactful display.

Forwards

Alexander Isak - 6.0: A quiet first half for the striker. He had a couple of shots on target but couldn't find the breakthrough. He seemed a little isolated at times before being substituted at halftime. Not a bad performance, just one where he wasn't able to get heavily involved as others stole the show.

Hugo Ekitiké - 7.5: Got the all-important equalizer with a composed finish from a fast break. He was a bundle of energy, taking three shots and always looking to run in behind. He linked up play well, and his goal changed the entire mood of the match. A very promising performance before he made way in the second half.

Eintracht Frankfurt Player Ratings vs Liverpool

Goalkeeper

Michael Zetterer - 7.5: It feels strange to give such a high rating to a keeper who conceded five goals, but from our perspective, he was Frankfurt's best player. He made an incredible 9 saves, 8 of which were from inside the box. Without his heroics, this scoreline could have easily been in double digits. He was let down by his defence but can hold his head high.

Defenders

Arthur Theate - 5.0: A night to forget. He was part of a backline that was completely overwhelmed. While he made 6 clearances, he was often chasing shadows. He struggled to cope with the movement of Liverpool's attackers. It was a brutal lesson against an elite attacking force.

Robin Koch - 4.5: As the captain, he had a torrid time trying to organize a defence under constant siege. He was dribbled past once and looked a yard off the pace. From our view, he was the worst performer on the pitch. The intensity and speed of Liverpool's play was just too much for him and his defensive partners to handle.

Aurèle Amenda - 5.0: Earned a yellow card for a cynical foul and struggled throughout. He made 4 interceptions, showing he was in the right place at times, but he lost 3 of his 4 duels. He was another defender who simply could not live with the opposition's quality. A very tough learning experience for him.

Midfielders

Rasmus Kristensen - 6.5: He scored his team's only goal with a very well-taken finish. That moment of quality was a bright spot in a dark evening. However, he struggled defensively and was dribbled past twice before being substituted. He provided a goal, but couldn't help stem the tide.

Hugo Larsson - 5.5: Worked hard but was completely overrun in midfield. He was chasing the ball for 90 minutes as Liverpool's midfield passed around him. He made a few tackles and interceptions but had little to no impact on the game from a creative standpoint. A thankless task for him.

Nathaniel Brown - 6.0: One of the few Frankfurt players who could claim to have won his personal battles, winning all 6 of his duels. He was tenacious and showed good energy down the flank. However, his efforts were ultimately in vain as the team around him crumbled.

Mario Götze - 6.0: Provided a clever assist for the opening goal, showing a glimpse of his enduring quality. He tried to get on the ball and make things happen. But he was largely anonymous for long periods as Liverpool took control. He was substituted after 65 minutes as the game was already lost.

Forwards

Ansgar Knauff - 5.0: Almost completely anonymous. He had only 19 touches in his 76 minutes on the pitch. He failed to register a shot or a key pass. The game completely passed him by as his team was unable to provide him with any service.

Jean-Mattéo Bahoya - 5.5: He showed some intent, having one shot blocked, but he was isolated up front. He was caught offside once and lost possession a number of times. It's hard to be an attacker when your team is pinned back for the entire game. He was subbed before the hour mark.

Ritsu Doan - 5.5: He got a yellow card for a clumsy foul and offered little going forward. He created one chance but was otherwise ineffective. Like his fellow attackers, he was starved of the ball and unable to influence the proceedings in any meaningful way.

Manager

D. Toppmöller - 4.0: His team started brightly and scored a great goal. But his game plan completely fell apart after Liverpool equalized. His side looked porous in defense and were tactically outclassed in every department. He failed to make any changes that could stop the bleeding, and his team was deservedly hammered.
