Indonesia XI 1-3 Aston Villa Player Ratings: Villans Strike Thrice To End Two-Match Losing Streak In Pre-Season Friendlies

Aston Villa played a friendly fixture with Indonesia XI, where players from different Indonesian clubs got together to put up a tough fight against Unai Emery's men. The Villans were riding on the back of two defeats against FC Porto and Real Sociedad, and were desperate to prove a point in this club friendly fixture.

The game started with Aston Villa being better on the ball than Indonesia XI, but the Indonesians didn't give up despite being a vast difference in quality between the two teams. Emiliano Buendia broke the deadlock in just the third minute, after sustained pressure from Emery's men. A smart cut-in from the right-hand side of the box saw Buendia get on the end of it to put his team in the lead.

The Indonesia All Stars really came close a few times in the first half but were unfortunate not to find the back of the net. Ross Barkley scored the second just before the halftime whistle, with a slick feint and shot with his left foot, which nicely evaded Kurniawan to nestle in the left-bottom corner.

Unai Emery changed the complete squad for the 2nd half, only keeping Wright in goal. That didn't stop them from imposing themselves on Indonesia XI, as they picked up a third through substitute Brian Madjo in the 58th minute to take the game away from Indonesia XI's reach.

Indonesia XI pulled one back in the 83rd minute, but it was not enough to affect the overall morale or scoreline.
