Saturday afternoon was all business as Anfield hosted Ipswich Town in the Premier League fixture. The Reds were looking forward to winning their first home League game in 2025. On the other hand, the hunger for the win was the same for the visitors as they were battling relegation.
Before the match, the momentum was on the side of the hosts as they had a 2-1 victory in their European fixture against Lille. News and expectations following up on the match were nothing short of interesting. Preserving an excellent European record and almost making sure of a first-place finish in the 36-team league phase, the Reds survived a brief scare in their last European fixture.
However, Salah’s exquisite finish and Elliott wrapping up the game gave the Reds the 3 points that they deserved. As per their Premier League fixture, Darwin Nunez saved the day in the stoppage time with an amazing brace. With only one loss in the league which came against Nottingham Forrest, the mighty Liverpool are still way ahead in the League table. And Saturday was all business for the Reds.
On the other hand, after an excruciating defeat of 2-0 against the Seagulls, the men of Kieran McKenna were dismantled by the Citizens as well. Back-to-back blows were handed to the Tractor Boys and they looked to change that in their Saturday afternoon fixture against the Merseyside Reds as they travel to Anfield.
Before the match, there were some rumors of who might miss the game. For the Reds, Jota was supposed to be out along with Jones. On the other hand, the Tractor Boys might see the returns of Hirst and Tuanzebe, while they miss out on Ogbene and Chaplin.
The match kicked off, and it was all to play for both teams. In the 12th minute, Konate cut through the midfield to give a stunning pass to Szoboszlai, who dropped his shoulder and gave the Reds an early lead. The Reds kept on pushing ever since and looked to be in control of the match.
The match kept on going with Liverpool dominating the possession. The Reds got their second goal as Gakpo glided the ball over the top of Ipswich City defenders and Mo Salah converted the delivery.
The 43rd minute saw a great pass from Gravenberch and allowed Cody Gakpo to take the rebound and get Liverpool a three-goal lead. Liverpool finished the game in the first half with a 3-0 scoreline. Gakpo doubled up his goal numbers from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross and it was 4-0.
The visitors got one goal from a set piece in the 89th minute as Greaves headed it past Alisson to make it 4-1. It was full-time soon and the scoreline for Liverpool vs Ipswich Town was 4-1. Here are Liverpool vs Ipswich Town player ratings.
Liverpool Player Ratings vs Ipswich Town

Goalkeeper
Alisson (6/10)
Apart from a couple of saves, the Brazillian keeper was having a relaxing evening in the first half. He was even seen stretching out in the box. He finally had to make a save in the 84th minute.
Defenders
Alexander-Arnold (6/10)
Like Salah, he was heavily marked as Ipswich Town as paranoid. He still put up a great defensive and offensive performance in the first half. Seemed to be a trickster in the Ipswich Town box when he got the ball. In the 65th minute, he made a stunning assist that saw the 4th goal for Liverpool. What a cross!
Van Dijk (6.5/10)
A typical day for the Liverpool captain. Stood his ground in the defense. Calm as you like. Made his trademark passes and even took a shot in the 23rd minute outside from the box.
Konate (5.5/10)
Opened up the Ipswich Town midfield with his pass and assisted the first goal for Liverpool. Was a great presence in the defense as well cutting the through passes every time it was attempted.
Robertson (5.5/10)
Made his trademark run in the early minutes of the game and set the attacking tempo of the game. Scott looked eager to get forward and was often seen high up the pitch.
Midfielders
Gravenberch (6.5/10)
What a player! His development has been phenomenal under Slot. And it shows in every match. He ruled the midfield in the first half with his holding, breaking out of the spaces and cutting the oppositional midfield wide open with his passes and on-the-ball runs. Got subbed off in the 67th minute.
MacAllister (5.5/10)
Set the tempo of the match with his midfield peers. Attempted outside of the box, but it did not connect. Was the main man behind the breakout in the 43rd minute which ended in Gakpo scoring the 3rd goal.
Szoboszlai (6/10)
Opened up the scoreline for the Home team. A quick drop off the shoulder and a quick shot saw the ball pass by Walton, which gave the Reds the early lead. The Hungarian looked lively for the rest of the game. Truly the engine of the team. Made quite a few great passes.
Forwards
Salah (7/10)
The left and right were there from the get-go. What a terrifying presence in the wings. If he keeps up the momentum, there is no discussion needed for Ballon d’Or. Was heavily marked throughout the game but kept on taking 3 to 4 players every time he had the ball. He got his chance finally as Gakpo delivered a pass that landed to him and he converted from a tight angle with his sweet left foot.
Diaz (6/10)
The Colombian wanted to join the goal party and was very active in the first half, often seen switching positions with Gakpo. He kept the Ipswich City defenders on their toes.
Gakpo (6.5/10)
An active winger for the afternoon. Made quality runs, took his attempts, and connected with the midfield well. He assisted Mo Salah with a stunning cross over the Ipswich City defenders. Scored the 3rd goal for the team in the 43rd minute off a rebound. He got his brace from a trademark TAA cross outside of the box. Got subbed off to save his legs.
Manager
Arne Slot (6/10)
Was the happier manager and why not the Dutchman made sure of a comfortable home win for the first time in the League this year.
Substitutes
Nunez (4/10)
Replaced the match winner Gakpo who had a brace and an assist. He looked to be on the scoresheet right away.
Endo (4/10)
Came to gain more control of the game as Liverpool was already 4-0 up. Took two big blows after coming on the game.
Elliott (4/10)
Came right after Liverpool scored their 4th.
Danns (4/10)
Came in the 78th minute to replace Mac Allister.
Chiesa (4/10)
Came in the 85th minute to see off the game.
Ipswich Town Player Ratings vs Liverpool

Goalkeeper
Walton (4.5/10)
Conceded the first goal, which he could have saved if he reacted early. He conceded a couple more due to the defensive faults of his team. Was the busier goalkeeper in the evening.
Defenders
O’Shea (4.5/10)
Along with his defensive partners, he had a below-average performance in the afternoon.
Davis (4.5/10)
The left-back had an average performance in the afternoon. He was subbed off at the beginning of the 2nd half.
Greaves (4/10)
Was very poor at reading the game today. Was nowhere near the bar that he had set for himself. Scored an only goal from the corner in the 89th minute.
Tuanzebe (5/10)
Was supposed to be a positive comeback for the defender. But that went out of the window as soon as the game started.
Midfielders
Phillips (5.5/10)
Seems to be the only player who was in the inception of every counterattack. Was unhappy with the team’s less commitment up front.
Morsy (4.5/10)
The midfielder was nowhere to be seen during the counterattacks. He was busy holding a low midfield line for his team.
Burns (5/10)
Seemed busy right from the kick-off whistle. However, he was injured as Cody Gakpo released the ball from the wings and accidentally stepped on his foot. Got subbed off in the 28th minute as Johnson was introduced instead of him.
Hutchinson (5/10)
Was active when the counterattacks broke out. But he quite did not connect with his forward Delap. Got subbed off in the 78th minute.
Philogene (5.5/10)
Along with Delap, he was the player who went ahead when Ipswich Town was counter-attacking. However, there was no end product from the player.
Forwards
Delap (5/10)
Quite did not happen for the forward in the first half. Did not get enough ball and deliveries from his peers. Struggled with the ball in feet. It took him 40 minutes to have a single touch in Liverpool’s box. Got booked in the 74th minute for committing a foul on Endo. Got subbed off in the 78th minute.
Manager
Mckenna (4/10)
Was the upset manager in the evening. Lost inspiration after the 3-0 scoreline in the first half.
Substitutes
Johnson (5/10)
Came in the 28th minute as Burns was substituted after getting unintentionally injured by Cody Gakpo.
Townsend (4.5/10)
Came for Davies at the beginning of the 2nd half. Was poor with his set piece and open-play passing.
Hirst (4/10)
Came in the 78th minute to see off the game.
Enciso (4/10)
Came into the match with Hirst in the 78th minute. Came in and made a foul challenge on Endo. It is astonishing how it was not a Red card. He assisted the first goal from the corner.
