Old Trafford played host to another epic European night as Michael Carrick’s Manchester United staged a dramatic second-half comeback to defeat Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma 3-2 in the Champions League. Trailing 2-0 at the interval following early strikes from Matias Soule and Donyell Malen, the Red Devils looked completely out of ideas before a chaotic sequence of events turned the tie upside down.

The tactical shift began when Bruno Fernandes converted a retaken penalty following Gianluca Mancini’s ill-advised challenge in the box. United capitalized on the sudden surge of home momentum, pressing high and forcing critical errors from a Giallorossi backline that surrendered its composure under intense pressure.

Matheus Cunha took complete control of the final ten minutes, netting a rapid double, including an 86th-minute winner created by substitute Shea Lacey, to complete the turnaround. Although Cunha’s subsequent red card set up a nervous finish down to ten men, Manchester United held firm to secure a vital group-stage victory. Check out the Man United vs Roma player ratings.
