Casemiro also made some commendable efforts, ensuring that Man United dominated the midfield. Bruno struck another long-ranger in the dying minutes of the first half, but once again, Jordan Pickford stood tall to save the lead. Manchester United started the second half with a man advantage. Mason Mount was called up to boost their attacking power. Everton, however, held their defence well. Visibly frustrated by the stubborn defending, Manchester United started trying their luck from outside of the box, with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro taking a few shots, but they failed to hit the target.

After what happened with Gueye in the first half, Keane looked more charged up, leading the Everton defence. His face-off against Mbeumo was quite entertaining. Despite continuous pressure, Everton remained steady and kept waiting for opportunities to counterattack. Pickford was mostly kept busy by the Manchester United forwards, but the English keeper appeared to be in no mood to surrender. Mason Mount set up a promising chance in the 70th minute, but Bruno Fernandes fumbled the finish.

In the 80th minute, Man United had almost pulled the equaliser, with Joshua Zirkzee going for a smashing header, but once again, Pickford blocked his attempt. The scenario repeated in the stoppage time as well but Man United were unable to manage the equaliser. The Man United vs Everton match finally ended 0-1.
