A cagey affair at the City Ground saw Nottingham Forest hold Tottenham for most of the game, in a fixture where both teams were looking for their first win in the Premier League this season. Although the home side had more shots in the first half, Tottenham had the majority of the possession.

Omar Marmoush had the best chance to score for Tottenham Hotspur in the 19th minute, as his effort went just wide of the left post, before the referee blew the whistle for a foul on Neco Williams in the buildup.

Nottingham Forest had their chance to go forward through Morgan Gibbs-White just before halftime, but Antonín Kinsky made a brilliant one-on-one save to keep the scores level, although the flag went up shortly after.

The hosts thought they had their all-important goal in the 67th minute, as Gibbs-White's effort took a slight knick off Antonín Kinsky, with Sandro Tonali and Jan Paul van Hecke being in a mix-up while clearing, allowing Neco Williams to head it in from close range.

However, VAR cancelled the goal as Williams used his hand to put it in, despite an argument from the captain that a diving player can't move his hands elsewhere when he's being charged by an opposition player's foot.
