Palmeiras 1-2 Chelsea Ratings: Chalobah Rated 8.5/10 as a Disastrous Own GOAL Ended Palmeiras' Journey and Took Chelsea into the FIFA CWC 2025 Semi Finals

The second quarter final encounter between Chelsea and Palmeiras took us to Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. Previously, as many believed, Chelsea had a much simpler route to the FIFA CWC 2025 Finals compared to other teams after the departure of Manchester City and Inter Milan in the Round of 16 fixtures. The winner of this game was scheduled to lock horns against Fluminense, who defeated Al Hilal in the first quarter-final game to book their semi-final berth. The match began with the London outfit scoring a brilliant goal via Cole Palmer after a lovely pass from Chalobah was buried into the goal by the English prodigy in the first 16 minutes. That was the solitary goal in the first half as Chelsea led 1-0. The second half began with Palmeiras scoring the equaliser after an unstoppable shot on goal by Estevao. Chelsea's defence and midfield were brilliant tonight, and they were making every attempt to find the winner in order to avoid the game going into extra time. Their efforts paid off finally, but in a dramatic and unfortunate manner as an own goal from Giay in the 83rd minute saw Palmeriras' hopes being crushed into pieces. The Brazilian side did try to score another equaliser, but the reigning UEFA Conference League winners were determined to seal the fate of the game. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Chelsea, and they will now lock horns against Fluminense in the semi-finals. That was the end of the road for Palmeiras, who can be very proud of the way their team played. After being placed alongside Inter Miami, they stood strong in the group stage, defeated Botafogo in the Round of 16 and narrowly suffered a heartbreak against Chelsea in the quarter finals.

Here are Palmeiras Player Ratings from the Palmeiras vs Chelsea match:
Goalkeeper
Weverton - 6/10
The Brazilian custodian could have only stared at the ball as it went inside through the left corner. Even a full dive or reflex couldn't deny Chelsea's first goal of the game.
Defenders
Agustin Giay - 5.5/10
In such vital games, when your team is heading for an extra time, scoring an own goal is the worst nightmare for any player.
Bruno Fuchs - 7.5/10
Bruno had the most defensive actions tonight and won every tackle he committed tonight.
Micael - 6.5/10
The 24-year-old Brazilian centre back should have denied Cole Palmer from taking the shot, and that would have easily avoided the first goal for Chelsea.
Vanderlan - 6.5/10
An average outing from Vanderlan tonight as Palmeiras suffered a heartbreaking exit.

Midfielders
Richard Rios - 7.5/10
He provided the first assist of the match against Chelsea, and his pass was buried into the goal by Estevao.
Emiliano Martinez - 6.5/10
Martinez was seen helping the Palmeiras defence actively tonight as he was playing as an active defensive midfielder too.
Allan - 6.5/10
He made those pinpoint accurate passes and had a very productive match in the midfield region.
Estevao - 7.5/10
Unarguably the best player in Palmeiras' camp, Estevao scored the first goal of the match via a brilliant shot that was impossible to stop.
Facundo Torres - 6/10
A disappointing game from Facundo as Palmeiras was seen trailing majorly in the game.
Strikers
Vitor Roque - 6.5/10
He kept pushing harder for the equaliser, but all in vain as an own goal took away Palmeiras' semi-final hopes.

Here are Chelsea Player Ratings from the Palmeiras vs Chelsea match:
Goalkeeper
Robert Sanchez- 6/10
Sanchez just had to make one save in the entirety of the first 90 minutes as the scores were level at the end of first 80 minutes.
Defenders
Malo Gusto - 8/10
The Chelsea right-back was in sublime form from the right flank tonight
Trevoh Chalobah - 8.5/10
The English-Sierra Lionese centre-back made a brilliant assist tonight to Cole Palmer. He pushed harder in front and a lovely pass from the defender was buried into the goal by Cole Palmer
Levi Colwill - 7.5/10
A brilliant outing from Chalobah's defensive partner that allowed Chalobah to press forward to make inroads into opposition defences.
Marc Cucurella - 8/10
Hardly any match where the Spanish left back is never seen pouring his heart and soul into, as Chelsea made their way into the FIFA CWC Semi-Finals.

Midfielders
Andrey Santos - 7.5/10
With a passing accuracy of 90%, Santos was the creative force in the Chelsea midfield tonight.
Enzo Fernandez - 8/10
The Argentine was as smooth as fluid tonight with his passes and crosses into the D box.
Pedro Neto - 8/10
Another superb performance from Neto in the midfield saw Chelsea exert their dominance throughout the game.
Cole Palmer - 8.5/10
Palmer stands up for Chelsea when it matters the most. A brilliant pass from Chalobah was converted into a goal by Palmer in the 16th minute to clinch a slender lead.
Christopher Nkunku - 7/10
A decent game for Nkunku, but he could have played better from the left flank.
Strikers
Liam Delap - 6/10
Delap was a disaster infront of the goal as despite so much creativity in the midfield, he failed to find the back of the net multiple times.
Substitutes
SUB - Joao Pedro - 7.5/10
SUB - Madueke - 6.5/10
SUB - Dewsbury-Hall - NA
SUB - Essugo - NA
Manager
Enzo Maresca - 7.5/10
The Maresca era in Chelsea could even see them clinching two titles in a year. The Spaniard has been amazing with the Blues, and his tactics outplayed Palmeiras, but he was a bit lucky too tonight.
Sportsdunia Player of the Match award goes to Trevoh Chalobah.
