Tottenham 2-2 Manchester United Player Ratings: De ligt Rated 9/10 as Late Drama Secures a 2-2 Draw

Tottenham Vs Man United Player Ratings

Summary

  • As it is said, the Premier League has never seen this kind of competitive start in the last few seasons and the match between Tottenham Vs Man United makes it more interesting.
  • Thanks to Mbeumo's goal, Man United took the lead, but late drama saw the match end in a stalemate.
  • De Ligt was the best player on the field today

If you’re a United fan, you might feel slightly frustrated as Tottenham’s late equalizer denied your team all three points. For Ruben Amorim, it was still another solid performance, with his side remaining unbeaten in the last five Premier League games.

If you were among those who criticized the players and their determination, it’s time to appreciate them, they’re the ones who have changed the team’s fate under Amorim after five gameweeks.

Talking about the match, the same tactics that often bring results, starting strong and hitting on the counter, backfired this time, as Tottenham’s Tel found the net when United failed to absorb the mounting pressure late in the game. Later on, Richarlison's goal and De Ligt equalizer made the match more interesting.

Tottenham Player Ratings vs Man United

Here are Tottenham Player Ratings vs Man United

Goalkeeper

Guglielmo Vicario - 6.0: Couldn't do much about the goal, it was a well-placed header. He had a quiet game otherwise. We noticed he came for one high claim confidently which was good to see. His distribution was a bit shaky at times, losing possession nine times.

Defenders

Pedro Porro - 6.0: A frustrating evening for the Spaniard before he was forced off with an injury. He was a willing outlet on the right, but his final ball was lacking. Just one of his 12 crosses found its target. He lost the ball far too often for our liking.

Cristian Romero - 7.0: A typically combative performance from the captain. He was aggressive in the tackle, winning nine of his 14 duels. He even forced a good save in the second half. Picked up a silly yellow card, but he was mostly solid and led by example.

Micky van de Ven - 6.5: Used his pace well to snuff out a few dangerous situations. What stood out to us was his last-man tackle, a crucial intervention. He was comfortable on the ball, but he looked a little shaky against United's aerial threat, losing two aerial duels.

Djed Spence - 6.0: A steady if unspectacular outing. He didn't offer the same attacking threat as Porro on the other side. Defensively, he was solid enough, making three tackles and three clearances. We felt he could have been more adventurous in possession.

Midfielders

João Palhinha - 7.0: Did what he does best, breaking up play and shielding the defense. He made four tackles and was a real presence in the midfield battle. He even tested the keeper with a shot. A deserved yellow card for a cynical foul, but an effective performance overall.

Pape Matar Sarr - 6.5: A busy performance from the youngster. He kept the ball moving with a 92% pass accuracy. He tried to get forward and had a shot from distance that went over. A bit lightweight in some duels, but his energy was important for the team.

Xavi Simons - 6.0: A quiet game for the talented midfielder. We expected more from him in the final third. He was neat in possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances. He was subbed off late as Spurs chased the game.

Forwards

Brennan Johnson - 6.5: A mixed bag. He was a constant threat with his pace and created one big chance. However, his decision-making let him down at times. Picked up a yellow card and was caught offside, which stalled some attacks.

Randal Kolo Muani - 5.5: A very short and ineffective outing before an early injury forced him off at halftime. He barely touched the ball and had no real impact on the game. A disappointing day for the forward.

Richarlison - 7.5: From our perspective, this was a really poor performance. He missed a big chance in the first half with a header. He was caught offside and looked off the pace throughout. He worked hard but offered very little quality in front of goal. Almost won it for Spurs

Substitutes

Wilson Odobert - 6.5: Came on at half-time and immediately provided a spark. He set up Romero for a good chance with a cross. Looked lively.

Destiny Udogie - 7.5: Made a huge impact after coming on. He provided the brilliant cross for the equalizing goal. Changed the dynamic of the game down the left flank.

Rodrigo Bentancur - N/A: Came on late to see the game out.

Mathys Tel - 8.0: The hero for Spurs. He came on and scored the crucial equalizer with a fantastic finish. He did exactly what his manager asked of him.

Manager

T. Frank - 7.5: His substitutions were spot on. Bringing on Udogie and Tel completely changed the game and earned his team a valuable point. He reacted well to going a goal down and his changes paid dividends.

Goalkeeper

Senne Lammens - 7.0: Couldn't do anything about the goal. He made two crucial saves inside the box to keep his team in the lead for so long. His distribution was decent, especially his long balls. A solid display between the sticks.

Defenders

Noussair Mazraoui - 6.0: A decent defensive shift before being substituted. He won most of his duels and made a few important clearances. He didn't offer much going forward, though.

Matthijs de Ligt - 9.0: A strong presence at the back. He was dominant in the air and made five clearances. He was composed in possession but was part of a defence that couldn't hold on for the win. However his goal secured 1 point for the team.

Harry Maguire - 6.5: Was having a solid game before his injury. He was assured in possession with a 96% pass accuracy and organized the backline well. His departure was a blow for United.

Luke Shaw - 6.0: A quiet game by his standards. He was defensively sound, making a couple of tackles and interceptions. We didn't see his usual marauding runs forward. A steady but unspectacular performance.

Midfielders

Casemiro - 6.0: An uncharacteristically sloppy performance. He made an error that led to a shot and was dribbled past twice. He still broke up play with four tackles but looked a yard off the pace before being subbed.

Bruno Fernandes - 6.5: The captain worked tirelessly as always. He tried to make things happen, but it didn't quite come off for him. He missed a big chance in the second half that could have sealed the win. His long passing was a highlight, though.

Patrick Dorgu - 7.0: A really impressive display. He won a staggering nine duels and drew four fouls, causing problems for Spurs. His final product was sometimes lacking, but his energy and desire were commendable. Unlucky to be on the losing end of a draw.

Forwards

Amad Diallo - 8.5: The best player on the pitch. What stood out to us was his creativity and directness. He provided a brilliant assist for the opening goal and created another big chance. A constant threat and a joy to watch. The highest-rated player for a reason.

Matheus Cunha - 5.5: A frustrating afternoon for the forward. He struggled to get involved in the game, losing possession 13 times. He was dispossessed three times and offered little threat before being substituted.

Bryan Mbeumo - 7.5: Took his goal brilliantly with a powerful header. He was a constant menace, getting into good positions and always looking to get a shot away. A clinical performance from the attacker.

Substitutes

Benjamin Sesko - 6.0: Brought on to offer a physical presence but was caught offside and couldn't make a significant impact.

Manuel Ugarte - 6.0: Came on to shore up the midfield but couldn't stop the tide turning in Spurs' favour.

Leny Yoro - 6.0: Replaced the injured Maguire and did reasonably well under pressure.

Mason Mount - 5.5: Barely had a touch of the ball after coming on.

Diogo Dalot - N/A: A late change with little time to influence the game.

Manager

R. Amorim - 6.5: His game plan worked perfectly for 80 minutes. His team was organized and clinical on the break. However, he couldn't see the game out, and his side ultimately dropped two points from a winning position. A frustrating result for him.
