Ubisoft also confirmed that at least one unannounced title originally planned for FY26 has been pushed to FY27. Multiple reports point to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake as that game. If a remake for one of the most successful entries in the series can be delayed a year, it is much easier to think of the next Assassin's Creed game having the same fate. With that backdrop, the Assassins Creed Hexe delay discussion feels unavoidable. Assassins Creed Hexe has already been confirmed to be the next game in the franchise as a mainline title. Veteran writer Christopher Grilli only rejoined the project in early 2026 as lead scriptwriter. That timing alone suggests Hexe is still deep in narrative development, not polishing or final production.

A number of reports have stated that the size and scope of Assassins Creed Hexe is much smaller than either of the two previously released Assassin's Creed games. Ubisoft has yet to reveal any gameplay for Hexe since its initial announcement in 2022.

As a general rule of thumb, if a company makes an announcement about a game or product and then does not follow up with gameplay footage, that typically means the game will be released later than initially expected.
