Clash Royale Chaos Mode Guide: Here's How to Play the New Game Mode

Summary
The new Clash Royale Chaos Mode event is now live, active from March 6 to April 4, 2026. In this new game mode, you can build decks from a select number of decks and face off against enemies using their own custom decks.
At the start of the match, however, and after every 50 seconds, you get the option to choose from two Chaos Modifiers that significantly alter how your cards function, adding chaotic new possibilities. Have a look at this Clash Royale Chaos Mode Guide to find out how the gameplay works, what rewards you can get, and what some of the best modifiers are to choose from.
Clash Royale Chaos Mode Guide: Deckbuilding Tips
Let's start with the most important aspect of any game mode in our Clash Royale Chaos Mode Guide: Deck Building. While you can normally build an event-specific deck using eight cards, many cards are not available in this game mode. Here is a list of all 50 cards that you can use in deckbuilding for this game mode:
Cards | Elixir Cost |
|---|---|
Electro Spirit | 1 |
Ice Spirit | 1 |
Log | 2 |
Snowball | 2 |
Rage | 2 |
Suspicious Bush | 2 |
Berserker | 2 |
Tombstone | 3 |
Vines | 3 |
Goblin Barrel | 3 |
Royal Delivery | 3 |
Princess | 3 |

Electro Wizard | 4 |

Goblin Demolisher | 4 |
Night Witch | 4 |
Mother Witch | 4 |
Graveyard | 5 |
Inferno Tower | 5 |

Ram Rider | 5 |
Rascals | 5 |
Executioner | 5 |
Wizard | 5 |
Witch | 5 |

Goblin Giant | 6 |

P.E.K.K.A. | 7 |
Mega Knight | 7 |
Lava Hound | 7 |
Golem | 8 |
Do note that none of the other Clash Royale cards are available in this game mode. Therefore, you are limited to creating decks using these cards only. As the game mode becomes chaotic as the match progresses, it's best not to focus on your Deck's average elixir cost and instead have fun trying out different decks. Out of all of these available cards, the best cards I recommend using in your decks since they have powerful chaos modifiers are:
- Spells: Log, Vines, Fireball
- Troops: Knight, Goblin Barrel, Dart Goblin, Wizard, Witch, Golem
- Buildings: X-Bow, Barbarian Hut

How do Chaos Modifiers Work in the Clash Royale Chaos Mode
Now that you know how to build your specific decks for the Chaos Mode, you should also know how Clash Royale Chaos Modifiers work. As the name suggests, all cards available in the game mode have multiple chaos modifiers altering their stats, attacks, and how they function.
When the match starts, you get to choose from two Random Chaos modifiers. As the game progresses, you will get options to select more after every 50 seconds, resulting in a maximum of four active Chaos modifiers. You will always get modifier choices based on what cards you have in your deck.

Additionally, the match timer will pause for 10 seconds once the option appears. As such, you should have a look at all 150 Clash Royale Chaos Modifiers during deckbuilding to create variants of some of the best Clash Royale meta decks. Since there are 150 usable cards, each of them has three associated chaos modifiers of different rarities: Common (Blue), Rare (Orange), and Epic (Purple).
While you get these at random, the first two choices are always common modifiers, followed by a rare and an epic modifier as the match goes on. After playing this mode for a few hours, here are some of my favorite Clash Royale Chaos Modifiers:
- Barbarian Hut: Mini Mega Knight Hut (spawns Mega Knights)
- Dart Goblin: Sparky Darts (every dart becomes a Sparky attack)
- Executioner: x4 axes (throws three additional axes on each attack)
- Fireball: Tornado Fireball combo (creates a tornado before hitting the ground)
- Goblin Barrel: Goblin Brawlers (spawns three Goblin Brawlers instead)
- Ice Wizard: Freeze attacks (all attacks freeze enemies)
