Clash Royale Mid-March Update: Full Patch Notes, Bug Fixes, and Improvements in March 2026

The Clash Royale Mid-March Update has gone live on March 16, 2026. After the Clash Royale downtime today March 16, the game is coming with a totally new progression system and major balance changes.

Core Gameplay Changes

• Hero Unlock System: Hero Fragments have been renamed to Hero Coins. Heroes in Arena 5 and above can get 200 Hero Coins for free (which is the amount needed for a guaranteed unlock). Newly released Heroes will require Hero Coins for the unlock as a new standard.
• Deck Slot Rework: The number of special slots gets reduced from 4 to 3 to keep the complexity in check.
  Evolution Slot: Arena 3.
  Hero Slot: Arena 5.
  Wild Slot: Arena 10 (Works with any Evolution, Hero, or Champion).

Lucky Chest Buffs (Level 11+)

The Clash Royale March 2026 patch notes have detailed a massive rise in Wild Card prizes from 5-Star Magic Lucky Chests:

• Common: Up to 7,500 (from 2,500).
• Champion: Up to 15 (from 5).
• Drop Rates: The "Full Evolution" drop rate has been increased from 5% to 9.5%, while the Champion drop rates have been decreased to as low as 4% to balance the overall higher card volume.

Social & Quality of Life Improvements

• Social Tab: Friends will now be sorted by Ranked status first, then by Trophy count. Pressing the Clan icon will give you the clan information right away.
• Pass Royale includes warnings for players under Arena 5 about Hero use. Tier 1 now clearly lists the featured Hero.
• Clan Wars shows a golden button when rewards are available. Players don't get sent back to the main screen after a fight.

Critical Bug Fixes

• Battle Mechanics: Musketeers can't snipe towers anymore. Executioner damage is the same in base and evolved forms. Hero Barbarian Barrel doesn't stick to King Towers.
• Merge Tactics: HP and attack issues for Skeleton Dragons and Witch Skeletons were fixed. Inferno Tower damage resets properly when switching targets.
• C.H.A.O.S Mode: Goblin Demolisher now deals correct radius damage, and X-Bow hits within the proper range.
• General: Copying decks is now possible in 4-card modes. Jump Tiles don't vanish during Round 1.
