Supercell Rolls Out Clash Royale Regional Pricing Update

Supercell, a mobile game development studio based in Finland, has brought its regional pricing system to Clash Royale after testing it in Clash of Clans. This is another component in Supercell's plan to "help make in-app purchases more equitable and achievable" for global audiences.

According to Supercell, the new Clash Royale Regional Pricing update will strive to "align the price of in-game items with local price levels of goods and services.” Essentially, pricing for gems, chests, and the Pass Royale will now vary from country to country and will be lower, particularly in countries with a lower cost of living. The rollout is part of the Clash Royale November 2025 Update, which introduces several global changes aimed at improving accessibility and fairness for players.

Under this update, no in-game pricing will go up. This is a price decrease in select areas. The rollout began in early October 2025 and rolled out to over 100 countries, including sections of Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia by November.

What This Means for Players

For many gamers, particularly in developing countries, this update means that in-game goods could cost around 20–50% less. Players in India and other countries have already seen a reduction in the price of gems and the Pass Royale.

To ensure fairness, Supercell added a few protections. Players in lower currency regions cannot send Pass Royale gifts to players in higher region currencies. This helps prevent gifting abuse and keep gameplay fair. Supercell also emphasized they would revise pricing regularly to consider exchange rates, local taxation, and local economic shifts.

Good Business and Great for Players

From a business perspective, this is a smart move. Supercell relies on in-game purchases as a primary revenue source. If the prices were adjusted to the local economy, players are more likely to make purchases and keep the game in front of them. It’s also good for Supercell’s image in developing markets as it shows they want to offer fair access to all players. This reduces friction and helps to create a more balanced worldwide player base.

Even so, managing regional pricing in 100+ countries presents issues. The company needs to watch changes in currency, taxes, and differing store policies on iOS and Android. Supercell has made price changes previously for these reasons, and this system will most likely undergo further changes.
