The MongolZ Drop Their Star Rifler Months Before the StarLadder Major Budapest 2025

In an unfortunate turn of events, The MongolZ bench Senzu from its active roster. The Mongolian organisation has sanctioned its first roster change in two years. It was quite shocking for the CS2 competitive fans, especially the fans from the Asian region.

Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold, the 19-year-old star rifler, was initially scouted by the organisation in September 2023. The MongolZ were not popular so much back then. However, the addition of the star Mongolian was something special that truly changed the Counter-Strike 2 team's trajectory in the international scene.

The MongolZ Bench Senzu: An Unexpected Move by the Mongolian Organisation

As mentioned earlier, this was quite a shocking move from the Mongolian organisation, The MongolZ, especially when the roster is still on a successful run this year. Senzu was the team's best performer with an average of 1.11 HLTV rating since the summer break.

The roster also won multiple significant tournaments, such as the Esports World Cup 2025, YaLLa Compass 2024, MESA Nomadic Masters 2024, and Thunderpick World Champion 2024. Apart from that, they also reached the finals on BLAST.tv Austin Major, FISSURE Playground #2, and many others. Regardless of so many achievements in the past, the intention of the organisation still remains unknown.

In a recent statement on X, they posted that “This decision was made after careful discussions between players and management. We deeply appreciate our fans’ continued support and respect for the team as we move forward. Senzu remains an exceptional player, and we wish him nothing but success in the next chapter of his career.”

It's quite evident that it was a carefully made decision, but the true intentions are still unclear. Moreover, the last sentence about wishing the 19-year-old success in his future endeavours might suggest that he might now be a free agent in the Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene.

After receiving the shocking news, Senzu also released a statement with a heavy heart. He mentioned: “idk what to say, it wasn't a sudden decision. It feels like I'm leaving my home, where we made a lot of memories together. I wish all the best things for my beloved ones, my apologies to the ones who support us, sorry for the bad news”.

With Senzu Benched, What's Next for The Mongolz?

So far, there's no new roster update from The MongolZ. Considering the recent roster change, here's a summary of the 4-man roster of the Mongolian team: bLitz (IGL), Techno4k, 910, and mzinho. This sudden roster change is expected to impact the team's performance, particularly as two pivotal tournaments, such as IEM Chengdu 2025, BLAST Rivals 2025 Season 2, and StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, are approaching. Moreover, the roster was surely on the list of everyone's favourite contenders.

The organisation must have some big plans on its mind; otherwise, it wouldn't have mentioned it as “careful discussions between players and management” on the X post. It'll be interesting to see who will join the roster and how it will affect the overall MongolZ we know from the past.
