StudioBside Draws the Curtain on Counterside, Teasing a Fresh Reboot for the Future

Everyone's favourite urban fantasy RPG, Studiobside's CounterSide, has recently announced some shocking news. A recent post from the studio about Counterside Shutdown announced has caught the community off guard.

Cafe Sterga, the developers confirmed that the title will conclude its live service on August 26, 2026, i.e., within a couple of months. This, however, isn't the end for the Studio, as the devs promised to bring a reboot version of it in the future. The Urban Fantasy RPG Faces Its End, But a New Chapter Awaits

After six long years, everyone's favourite RPG with Live2D artwork will bid farewell to its fans. A story-rich free-to-play gacha game will end its service on August 26, 2026.

Those who were following the overall content updates of the game have already predicted something like this. Ever since Hyunsoo Kim stepped down as the Head Producer of the title, all signs have been pointing to this unfortunate incident.

And the recent official post from the studio's CEO has confirmed that customer support will end in September. It certainly disappointed a whole bunch of players of the gacha. When people took it up to the official r/gachagaming subreddit, several fans commented on this.

One of the users, u/Soggy_Athelete361, showcased their emotion towards the game and requested that the game come back as a non-gacha RPG.

They mentioned, “Please come back as a non-gacha RPG.” Another user, u/Sweaty_Molasses_3899, compared this moment to the Bungie and Marathon moment. They mentioned, “Bungie killing off Destiny 2 for the Marathon moment.”

What's The Future Plan For CounterSide?

Studiobside has already officially disabled the download button for everyone across the world. The devs have published a schedule on how the EOS proceedings will follow throughout the next two months, including:

• Maintenance Date: Tuesday, June 16, 20:30 - 22:30 UTC-5
• End of in-app product sales and application download: Following maintenance on Tuesday, June 16, 2026
• End of live service: Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 01:00 UTC-5
• Official website, Lounge, and SNS service end: Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 01:00 UTC-5
• Customer support end: Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 01:00 UTC-5

The team, however, has mentioned providing a daily Thank You Gift for its playerbase, especially for those who're actively following the story

Players can claim 300 Admin Coins from the in-game mailbox as a farewell reward post the recent June 17 maintenance. Talking about the plans, the developers have planned to release a CounterSide Reboot. It'll be interesting to see what the future of this RPG will be and how they can upgrade the graphics and implement new things.
