Fortnite’s New Precision Air Strike Disabled After Players Found an Infinite Use Bug

Epic Games has once again had to step in and temporarily vault the newly introduced item, which is the Precision Air Strike, in Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. This was because players discovered a major bug in the game that allowed the item to be used without any limit.

When Epic released update 37.10 on August 26, it introduced two gameplay item additions. One was the Roly Poly vehicle. The second, and far more impactful, was the Precision Air Strike, which is a powerful weapon that allowed players to call in targeted airstrikes from the sky on their command, forcing enemies out of cover and breaking builds.

No doubt the weapon was so powerful that it was designed to be used once; the item was supposed to offer a tactical advantage without completely overwhelming the game. On launch, players were excited just as usual; Fortnite players expect this from a seasonal update. However, players quickly uncovered a loophole that allowed them to use the item indefinitely.

Fortnite Precision Air Strike Suspended Temporarily

Epic Games reacted quickly, announcing through its Fortnite Status channel on X that the item had been disabled temporarily due to an issue. While the official post didn’t explain further, the timing left no doubt that the recent bug was the reason.

Just to let you know, this isn’t the first time a Fortnite vaulted item has taken the internet by storm shortly after release. Over the years, powerful or glitchy mechanics, from mechs to mythic weapons, have often been removed once they have been found to be exploited via a bug.

Interestingly, many players didn’t see the exploit as a problem at all and were unhappy with Epic going for a fix. In reply to the same post, some argued that Epic is too quick to disable anything that brings something fun into the game. Of course, it's definitely not fun if you are on the opposite side.

How Players Broke the Precision Air Strike

Once the update v37.10 went live, this exploit quickly spread through the community with clips. In case you are wondering how players found a bug in the item, it can be done by triggering the airstrike, then removing the item from the inventory at just the right moment. Doing so caused the airstrike to activate while also leaving the item available for reuse as per the Fortnite Guide. By repeating this cycle, players were able to chain unlimited airstrikes.

When Will Fortnite Precision Air Strike Be Back Online?

At present, there is no confirmed timeline for the Precision Air Strike’s return in the game. So far, Epic Games has only stated that the item will remain disabled until the issue is resolved. Given Fortnite’s track record, the Precision Air Strike is likely to return within hours to a few days.

The community is hopeful the item will make a comeback, since it offered a fresh and exciting mechanic when used as intended, which Fortnite players had been craving for a long time. Fortnite vaulted items will now stay that way until Epic finds a way to prevent players from abusing them again.
