Who is Durin, and Why you should Pull him?

Genshin Impact Luna III (6.2v) is here, with a new character debut and events. One of the most notable characters among the newer ones is Durin. He is the newest Pyro Sub-DPS to join the vast roster of playable units. But Durin isn't just a playable character, he has a past that originated ages ago, even before the current Archons took their throne.

Who is Durin, and his past lore?

As mentioned earlier, in Genshin Impact, the name “Durin" represents two distinct entities, which are related to some extent. In the following part, we will break down those details and lore that helped to shape the present playable Durin.

Durin: The Abyssal Dragon

Durin the Abyssal Dragon was created artificially by one of the “Five Sinners”, and the name she goes by is “Rhiedottir”, “Gold”, or Mage R”. She is a powerful entity who has created multiple artificial life forms, and among them is Durin. After successfully creating Durin, he was freed, and she told him, “Go on, my dear child, and get to know this world so full of beauty”. This is how Durin came to life and became an important part of the Mondstandt lore.

During the Cataclysm, which happened around 500 years ago from the current game's timeline, Durin invaded the city of Freedom, Mondstandt, and brought massive devastation and waves of Abyssal monsters, which carried the destruction to every corner of the land. Even the Knights of the Favonius were completely defeated, and Grand Master Arundolyn completely lost the will to stand up against the enemy when his dear friend was killed during the Khaenri'ah expedition, which left Mondstandt completely defenseless. This is when Venti, the Anemo Archon, chose to come forward with his friend Dvalin to defend the city of Freedom from the Abyssal Dragon, Durin.

During the fight, Dvalin and Venti were able to lure the Abyssal Dragon away from the city to the snowy Vindagnyr mountain (currently known as Dragonspine), and after a massive fight, Dvalin was able to take down the Dragon, which led to another problem in that region. But that's for another time; for now, peace has returned to Mondstadt.

Even though he was feared by most people, he was a gentle soul, and as per his master's wish, he wanted to visit the land of lovely songs and befriend the people of Mondstadt, but due to Abyssal corruption, he was twisted into a destructive force. Genshin Impact Durin: The 5-star character

The playable Durin was created by mage Andersdotter ("M")from the Hexenzirkel organisation inside Simulanka's storybook world, which was available for a limited period as the playable summer event island. During that event, he was a large toy dragon who was feared by most of the residents in Simulanka. However, after meeting Traveler and their friends, who befriended him, and deciding to shrink him into a mini purple dragon, Mage Alice named him Durin. He departed for the Tevyat and became a close friend of the Wanderer.

During the latter part of the Natlan-Arc, a quest was introduced in Mondstadt where Albedo was trying to achieve a miracle by fusing the Abyssal Dragon's heart with Mini-Durin, so that he could get a synthetic human body, and with that, the present playable Durin came into existence.

Why you should pull Durin during Genshin Impact Luna III

During Genshin Impact's Luna III update, a new Pyro Sword character has been introduced, and he is Durin. He is also a member of the Hexenzirker, and the successor of the Abyssal Dragon- Durin. He is a unique character who has a dual fighting stance, like Skik, and Tartaglia. But incase of Durin, each form lets him wield different types of abilities.

His dual fighting stance lets him shift his abilities between a supportive ally who can RES Shred, while the other form lets him be a Sub-DPS who can deal massive Pyro DMG.
