Genshin Impact Guide: World of Teyvat, Gameplay Mechanics, and Nations Explained

Genshin Impact is one of the biggest games in the modern gaming world. Released in 2020, this game quickly gained a large following due to its world-building and action role-playing. Developed by HoYoverse, a Chinese gaming company, this is a free-to-play game that you can download across all platforms. Keeping the cross-platforming in mind, the developers have made the game in such a way that you can progress your story through different devices at once.

This is one of the best graphic games with narrations in different languages that make the experience more personal and engaging for the players. You can unlock different characters, improve their abilities, and explore the open world of Teyvat. What is Genshin Impact?

Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game where you enter the world called Teyvat. The more you explore, the more you'll unlock the story. The game has a Gacha System through which you can obtain different new characters, more weapons, and other necessary resources you need to progress.

The main story includes seven nations of Tevyat, namely Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya. Each nation is associated with a specific element, such as fire, water, ice, earth, wind, etc. The Story follows a traveler who has to travel the nations in search for the separated twin.

Through exploring different nations, you can collect different players throughout the game and practice their special elements to fight people and master the combat. This game also allows you to combine two elements and produce more power.

Genshin Impact Mechanics

You can start your Genshin Impact Journey by choosing between the two travelers. Aether(Male) or Lumin(Female). Upon choosing one of these, they will become your first character in the game. However, the game also allows you to form a team of four characters, so you can collect different characters that balance your team and can help you produce good combo fights.

• Elemental Characters: Similar to the seven nations, every character will have an elemental power consisting of Pyro (Fire), Hydro (Water), Cryo (Ice), Electro (Lightning), Anemo (Wind), Geo (Earth), and Dendro (Nature). You can make a team consisting of four of these characters to have different combos in attack. It's also important to note that the worlds are affected by the change in weather and time.
• Combat: Each of these characters will be capable of a basic attack, strong charged attack, and can use their elemental skills for an elemental outburst. The game allows you to switch the characters mid-attack so you can use different elemental combos for a much stronger blow. For example, the combo of Pyro + Hydro can produce a sick combination of vaporization that can turn the enemy into vapor.
• Wishing: The game uses a wishing mechanic where you can use the power of wishes to get a chance to summon a new character. You would have to give up a hard-earned currency. But, the wish system is one of the difficult chance keys that gives you a small amount of time and limited rolls to get the rare characters. You can also get a weapon; therefore, it's not a guarantee that you'll always get a character.
• Exploration: You can explore the world of Tyvet and also explore the jungles and waters by swimming, climbing, and gliding.
• Stamina System: The Stamina or Resin system is the amount of health you have throughout the game. You can increase this bar by claiming loot rewards from elite bosses and domains. The resins are capped at 160 and will regenerate over time.

Genshin Impact Map (Teyvat)

As explained before the Teyvat is the main world in Genshin Impact that has seven nations, each having an elemental significance. These nations are ruled by Archons and have the key to their kingdom. The seven nations consist of Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya. However, the last two are not yet available in the game.

Mondstadt

Mondstadt is one of the first nations where the traveler's journey begins. This Nation has Anemo(Wind) as its main element. The kingdom worships Lord Barbatos(The god of Freedom) as their Archon. It has different areas like Dragonspin, Brightcrown Mountains, Galesong Valley, Starfell Valley, etc.

Liyue

Liyue lies on the eastern side of Teyvat. The main element associated with this harbour nation is Geo(Earth). They worship Rex Lapis, the Archon or god Contracts. Chapter I of the Archon quest takes place here. Theier Map features Mt. Tianheng, Mt. Aozang, and Qingyun Peak, Jueyun Karstand the chasm.

Inazuma

Chapter 2 of Archon Quest includes Inazuma as the kingdom to explore. It has a total of 6 islands: Narukami (central island, Tenshukaku palace), Watatsumi (dreamy coral island), Tsurumi (fog-covered mystery), Seirai (ruined and stormy), Yashiori (rains and serpents), and Kannazuka (industrial and volcanic). Known for their electro(Lightning) element, they worship the god of Eternity and the Electro Archon, the raiding Shogun. This kingdom will unlock after you complete adventure rank 30 and complete the first part of “Archon Quest Setting Sail”.

Sumeru

One of the seven kingdoms that gets unlocked after completing Act 1 of Archon's quest prologue. This kingdom is known for its Dendro (Nature) Element. They worship the God of Wisdom and Dendro Archon, Lesser Lord Kusanali. They have two regions with a desert surrounding the western area and rainfall surrounding the eastern region.

Fontaine

Chapter 4 of the Archon's quest follows the Fontaine region. Known for their Hydro(water) element, the fontaine worship the god Justice and the Hydro Archon, Focalores. The map of Fontaine features two regions, Underwater and Overwater. The court of Fontaine is the main city of this kingdom. The underwater lets you explore the depths of the ocean with hidden chests and treasures, and no oxygen limits.

Genshin Impact Events

Five different in-game events take place inside the game, excluding the flagship events. These are:

• Co-op event: This event is a multiplayer event where you can join a team of four members and complete the time-limited challenges. This mode can include time-limited mini games, domains, and bosses.
• Expedition System: This event involves exploration of spaces in a limited time to find resources. These have event bonuses as compared to regular expeditions. For example, Adventurer’s Guild on the Hunt.
• Heated Battle Mode: This involves the card game of Genshin Impact, the Genius Invokation TCG, where the players can invite others to play against them.
• Kamera Event: This is a special photographic event where the players will be asked to take certain pictures, such as the highlands or the mountains, animals, etc.
• Trial Event: This is for using and testing limited characters. They can be introduced for a limited time to check their working functions and fluidity, and be tested by the players before fully launching them or pulling the plug.

Genshin Impact Currency

There are a lot of currencies in Genshin Impact. the Mora is the most common currency in the world of Teyvat. They are used to buy and upgrade the artifacts and increase. These can also be used in the crafting process. There are six sigil currencies and two voucher currencies.

• Genesis Crystal: These are paid currency used to buy different skins and bundles from the shop.
• Lucky Coin: These coins are used in the Card shop of Genshin Impact. A player can't have more than 20k coins.
• Primogem: These are premium currencies in Genshin Impact that are used in the wishing process and weapon banners.
• Realm Currency: The realm currency is used in the realm depot to buy items through tubby and Chubby.
• Repertoire Coins: These coins are used to buy Score themes in the treasure of Myriad Melodies shop.
• Toy Medal: These coins can obtain you photo poses and wolfy for characters in The Imaginarium Theatre.
