The HoYoverse has introduced the Genshin Impact Stygian Onslaught Event, which is a time-limited combat option that is centered around aggravated Ley Lines and challenging conditions of combat.

Eligibility rules and story completion guidance

To access the Genshin Impact Stygian Onslaught Event, players will need to be at least Adventure Rank 20 and have completed Archon Quest Prologue: Act III, Song of the Dragon and Freedom. HoYoverse suggests finishing Archon Quest Perilous Trail beforehand. The event will take place from January 21, 2026, at 10:00 until February 24, 2026, at 03:59.

Challenge structure and difficulty progression

Every challenge in the Genshin Impact Stygian Onslaught Event comes in a three-phase format. The player has to complete three consecutive challenges in one go. In case of failure, whether it is in phase one, two, or three, they will be unable to complete this challenge attempt.

Skill difficulty levels begin with Normal, Advancing, Hard, Menacing, Fearless, and Dire. As players progress to greater difficulties, the rules also harden, along with the addition of complex enemies. Additionally, for Hard difficulty and beyond, the following difficulty tier can only be unlocked when the previous tier is completed.

Exalted Ones and shifting combat advantages

One of the main systems in the Genshin Impact Stygian Onslaught Event gameplay is Exalted Ones. Up to 16 Exalted Ones can spawn in one challenge. These characters get special buff applications. Including them in teams can alleviate some pressure, and this can improve overall survival or damage dealt based on the mod applications.

This results in rewards from the selected Domains of Blessing, in addition to fostering Dire Prestige.

Dire prestige rewards additional Artifact drops and Dust of Enlightenment. After completing the Outbreak, Resin spend is locked, and such additional progressions will no longer be made. Hence, it is crucial to participate during the early stages, especially for actively optimizing Artifact farmers in the Genshin Impact Stygian Onslaught Event.

Genshin Impact Co-Op support and restrictions

Compared to some of the more combat-focused events, Stygian Onslaught feels more like a system event than an experimental one. While the preceding events heavily relied on score chasing and short rotations, this event is rather a sustained performance and roster depth-centric.
