For a game that was once locked for 2025, Grand Theft Auto 6 has had one of the most inconsistent release timelines in recent history. It was first delayed from 2025 to May 2026 before being delayed again from May to November 19, 2026. This back-and-forth resulted in many people thinking the end of the wait was near.

However, some new comments from a reliable source have revived the difficult question: Is GTA 6 Delayed Again? Multiple reports suggest the answer is not as reassuring as players would like.

According to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, on the latest episode of the Button Mash podcast, the development of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA6) has not actually reached a stage known as “content complete.”

This means there are still many unfinished items in the game’s development, i.e., developers are still creating and finalising all the missions, and determining what will and won't go into the final version.

Content completion has not been reached for GTA 6. Jason Schreier has stated that it is still very much a work in progress rather than a finished product.

When is GTA 6 Releasing?

One of the most concerning takeaways from Schreier’s comments on the Button Mash podcast is that even Rockstar employees are reportedly unsure about the November deadline. He pointed out that nobody in the studio could give a firm answer, saying GTA 6 will release on time.

This uncertainty has been highlighted because Rockstar has a history of pushing back release dates as they want to ensure their games meet their own internal standards of quality.

The same was true for both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Therefore, it is likely that GTA 6 will have a similar fate. If that happens, we could see the release being pushed further to 2027. That means the PC release may have to wait longer than they expected.

Why Another Rockstar Games GTA 6 Delay May Happen?

Rockstar Games has built its reputation on polish, not punctuality. On the contrary, the company would rather deal with consumer backlash for delaying the video game than release a game that players might consider “unfinished.”

Given the scale of GTA 6 and expectations that it is the biggest entertainment launch ever, an incredible amount of stress is placed on the game developers. That's why fans can't deny another Rockstar Games GTA 6 delay.

So, When is GTA 6 Releasing?

Another key factor is Take Two’s fiscal calendar. The end date of the fiscal year for Take Two Interactive is on March 31, 2027. This allows Rockstar Games to buffer itself. If Rockstar Games does not release Grand Theft Auto 6 until early in 2027, the release will still be in Take Two Interactive's same fiscal time frame. From a business standpoint, this makes it easier for Rockstar Games to justify another delay.
