Marathon Ranked Mode Launches This Weekend With New Competitive System and Rewards

Summary
Bungie has just released a massive update regarding the first-ever competitive season for their extraction shooter, Marathon. This new Marathon ranked mode Season 1 is designed with experienced players in mind. The competitive matches for Ranked in Marathon will go live this weekend, on March 21-24. This is a basic overview of how this new mode works, how you can get into a match, and what kind of rewards are available.
Marathon Ranked Mode Season 1 Requirements Explained
For you to even see the "Queue" button for Marathon Ranked Mode Season 1, you have to achieve a few basic goals. Firstly, you must have your character at least at Level 25. Ranked matchmaking has two options, namely Low Stakes (Ranked) and High Stakes (Ranked+). Both of these options have unique requirements:
- Low Stakes (Ranked): This queue requires your character to equip at least 3,000 credits worth of gear.
- High Stakes (Ranked+): This queue requires a steep 10,000 credits of equipped gear value.
Marathon's new ranked system makes it a top contender for the best PC games.
How to Earn Points and Level Up

To rise through the six main ranks, which are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Pinnacle, you need to earn Ranked Points in a game. This is the newly introduced Holotag that comes into the picture. The Holotag in the game determines the score target to be achieved in that game.
Once the points collected by the team reach the target value, the extraction process is free to proceed, and then the team earns RP. When the team dies, they lose points, and the Holotag determines the value. You can overperform to get bonus RP. The only way to fill this bonus meter is by looting enemy player Holotags.
Marathon Ranked Season 1 Rewards
When you move through the ranks, you receive a loot package, but at the end of the season, you receive special reward items depending on your final rank. Breakdown of which is below:
| Top Rank | Rewards |
|---|---|
| Pinnacle | Gun Style, Title, Ranked Emblem |
| Diamond | Gun Style, Ranked Emblem |
| Platinum | Gun Style, Ranked Emblem |
| Gold | Runner Shell Style (Destroyer), Title, Ranked Emblem |
| Silver | Player Background, Ranked Emblem |
| Bronze | Ranked Emblem |
Bungie recently released Marathon Update 1.0.0.4, which introduces various changes in Weapons and PvE that you can check as well.
