One of the official news sources for Pokemon GO took to their X (formerly Twitter) to announce the arrival of Hoothoot during the Spotlight hours. The information was posted on September 21st, 2025, at 4:39 PM UTC.

Hoothoot is a normal and flying-type Pokémon that evolves into Noctowl. You can also get twice the amount of candy for catching Hoothoot. If you are lucky enough, you may encounter a shiny form. The odds of it are, however, only 1 in 512. The shiny form of Hoothoot has a bright yellow complexion in comparison to the dark brown skin of the normal version.

Just in case you're lucky, you will have a chance to catch a shiny Hoothoot, which has a different appearance from the original one. The shiny golden yellow version of the Hoothoot will have higher spawn rates during the spotlight hours. The Pokemon GO Hoothoot Spotlight Hour is scheduled for 23rd September, 2025 (This Tuesday) at 6 PM to 7 PM local time.
