Pokemon Unite is introducing a brand new Pokemon into the game. Meowth, is arriving as the newest Speedster in Pokémon Unite. It is also going to be Pokémon number 90 in the game. You will get a chance to get it for free by completing the in-game event, which will go live on January 9, 2026. Will Meowth actually define the new meta in Pokemon Unite? Pokemon UNITE Meowth Movesets

Pokemon Unite Meowth is coming as a 'Melee' Speedster. It has one passive ability, 6 move sets, and one unite move. Since this version of Meowth is based on the famous Meowth of Team Rocket in the Pokemon anime, its passive ability is also very unique. You can check Meowth's detailed move set below:

Basic Attack

Since Meowth is a Melee Speedster, its basic attack deals damage with its claws. You need to physically touch the enemy to deal some damage. The damage cap of its basic attack rises with the rise in its level. Like other Pokemon, its third basic attack deals maximum damage and also forces the enemy to drop some Aeos energy.

Passive Ability

Meowth's passive ability is called 'Pick-up'. This ability allows Meowth to copy its enemy's battle item while dealing damage to it. This means when you are in combat with an enemy and deal damage to it, you can use 2 battle items (yours and the enemy's) simultaneously. The ability also gives a slight speed boost to Meowth for a short while.

First Moveset

Initially, when you enter the Aeos Island with Meowth as your Pokemon, you get 2 preset moves to use in combat, which form the first moveset of Meowth. The first moveset remains when Meowth is between Level 1 and 3.

• Scratch: As the name suggests, this move basically deals damage when Meowth scratches the enemy Pokemon.
• Feint: This is a kind of dash move which basically helps you dodge enemy moves and quickly reposition Meowth during combat. This helps in both attacking and escaping, depending on the situation.

Second Moveset

The second moveset consists of 4 moves, but you can select only two of the four:

• Payday: In this move, Meowth throws coins to deal damage. This is the love which will help you steal objectives, energy from wild Pokemon and secure finishes. This move can be upgraded from Scratch when Meowth reaches level 4.
• Fury Swipes: This move makes Meowth move towards the enemy and hit it multiple times with its nails. This move has the highest potential to land critical damage. You can replace this move with Scratch when Meowth reaches level 4.
• Feint attack: This is another kind of 'dash' move that helps Meowth to either jump into a fight or escape from it. If Meowth hits anyone with this move, it can lower their defence. This move can be upgraded from ‘Feint’ when Meowth reaches level 6. At level 12, it becomes Feint attack+.
• Assurance: This is a classic finish securing move that deals serious damage if the enemy you are attacking is already vulnerable. This means if Meowth has already dealt some damage during initial combat and then uses this move, it will one-shot the opposition (depending on the build discussed later). This move can be upgraded from ‘Feint’ when Meowth reaches level 6. At level 12, it becomes Assurance+.

Unite Move

Meowth's Unite move is called 'Gold Coin Barrage' and deals huge area damage. All the enemies in the AOE take damage. This move also increases Meowth's speed and movement for a short while. The Unite move unlocks at level 9.

To make the most out of the new Pokemon Unite Meowth, you need to build it in a way that is more damage-oriented. Being a speedster, Meowth will be squishy because of low stars on Endurance, and trying to boost it won't be very helpful. Instead, if you stack the offensive part of Meowth, it will one-shot the enemies like a flash. You can equip 3 held items to Meowth and the best ones to use are:

• Scope Lens: This item boosts the critical hits of basic attacks by 15% at max level.
• Razor Claw: This move also boosts the basic attack and critical hit rate of Melee Pokemon.
• Attack Weight: This item increases the damage cap of Meowth by 12 and stacks it to a maximum of 6 times.

Meowth is a speedster, so it will be an early-game bully. If you use it, you need to farm the central jungle on Aeos Island and level it up quickly to level 5. After levelling up to 5, you will have to support the team fights in either lane, depending on the situation. You need to be the quickest to take the central jungle and be a level ahead of the enemy attacker or Speedster. With elite offence and mobility, once levelled up in time, you can clean the entire enemy team with it.

• Early game: Your focus should be on levelling it up as soon as possible. You need to farm the jungle and take up all the Audinos and Aipoms and try to win the initial lane fights.
• Mid game: Your priority should be levelling up Meowth to level 9 and unlocking its Unite move, as it will greatly assist in the objective fight (Rotton or Regirock).
• Late Game: If your Meowth reaches Atlawts level 13 by the Kyogre fight, try to save its Unite move for the final gank. You need to either stay away or dodge the opposition attackers and Speedsters. Use the Unite move to clean up the mess once the gank happens.
